Advice for someone about to get a 360?

I figure I have to get a 360 by the time Halo 3 comes out. So I have a little time.

I'm thinking about the Elite (when available) mostly for the HDMI connection and updated hardware.

Any advice as to what to purchase?

Any anticipated price drops?

I know I will need the xbox live Gold (I already have an xbox live account on my regular xbox... will this just roll over?)

What are the 2, maybe 3 must-have games in your library?

Any other tips? I haven't kept up on the latest so I'm really just getting into this.

P.S. No nonconstructive Playstation comments welcome, unless Halo 3 is coming to Playstation. Thanks.

* The Elite is not worth it unless you plan to pay to download videos of PG13 level comic book shows and movies. The HDMI connection.. maybe, but certainly not worth the premium considering you get the same picture out of the components.

* Your best bet is the premium plus a controller charge and play thingie.

* Price drops are always anticipated.. but I wouldn't base my purchase on that.

* Your Xbox Live account can be moved over.

* Pac-Man CE.. and um, well, that's all I'd get.

^ From the looks of the other thread you haven't even bought it[Pac-Man: CE].

Which system?

- Premium: screw the overpriced paint job Elite

What to purchase?

- Warranty
- Marketplace points
- Play and Charge kit (or recharging station) if you game a lot

Price drop?
- There's always one looming but I wouldn't wait for one, you could be waiting forever.

Xbox Live?
- If you already have live, it converts to Gold when you transfer/import your account.

Top 3 Games?
- Depends on what you like. Gears of War is a given, but my favorite titles are:
* Condemned(rings up $15 at Target if you can find it) - FPS/melee Suvival Horror game
* Dead Rising - GTA style survival horror game
* Viva Pinata - also cheap
* Kameo - sorta like Zelda lite
* Burnout Revenge

Other tips?
- keep your system ventilated as well as the power brick
- Download Pac-Man: CE
- Try out demos and arcade titles before you buy

I'll definitely confirm Dead Rising and Gears of War

Forza 2 is magnificent if you like racing sims.
