As is, I'm waiting for those rumored 65mn chips to see if they reduce the failure rate. A price drop would be nice as well.
I refuse to pay $400 for something that absolutely requires a $50 warranty as its pretty much guaranteed to need replaced at some point in time.

This statement maybe unfair but it's amazing no matter what Microsoft makes the product has some kind of bug or error. I love my xbox 360, but reading over the problems other people are having has me so worried. I ended up buying both a cooling station and a fan for the back to try and keep my system cool.
I'd like to think this is a small minority of systems, but when you hear people on their fourth, fifth, sixth xbox it really gets to you.
Still I'll take my chances with my xbox 360 until Sony drops the price on the ps3.

I got mine at launch and it was fine(no freezes ecept once during an online game of Full Auto way back when, no disc read errors, nothing) until I downloaded the spring update. it rebooted after the d/l and I immediately got the 3 red rings.

I'm determined to not buy an overpriced PS3 (Wii launch/360 bought in February here). But:
One of the guys on lcvg is on xbox360 #6 or #7. No way. Online Gears addiction or not, I'm not going through the RMA process more than once. The 2nd time it dies, the damn thing will go on ebay towards a buying a PS3 in ~2009 or so when it is less outrageously priced.

Oh my no. I read the posts here and elsewhere before I made the purchase.
So no intercooler. It's this item right here.
It's time like this that I wish I was able to mod stuff.
PS3? I guess if you don't want to play any games.
It'll be after MGS 4 comes out...barring that isn't out on a xbox 360 by then. cough.

From: You might catch me in Atlanta, looking like a boss
just got word from my brother. His replacement 360, which he just got less than a month ago, crapped out yesterday (every USB port died, so no wireless and no controllers will work - even the wireless controllers won't sync). His shipping box is on its way for try #3.
