The only problem I see is that what if someone only likes protoss? They have to wait a year longer to play it. IMO I like the old model better, First game with all the basics and 10 or so missions each, then adding on with expansions. I mean what's next, World of Warcraft 2... Paladin Edition, Druid edition, Shaman edition..
I'm not a tinfoil hat person, but this could start a bad precedence.

If you're talking about the campaign, then yes, you'll have to wait. But if you're talking about multiplayer, you will get all three races right away. The multi-player aspect is the most fun anyway, imo. The campaign is just something to do on the side. So I don't really care, as long as I can play on Battlenet.

I never got into SC for the multiplayer so that doesn't matter to me. We have 2 sides to the same coin, and they are making one side wait a year later to play more.. That is the problem I have.

The first installment is up for pre-order at Amazon, although no release date is listed.

I'll throw it out there, I think that the 2 expansions will hit at $30, probably one in 2010 and one in 2011. It seems logical considering their expansions for WoW, and other games in the genre's expansions.

I would like to see it closer to $20, but I think you are right with $30.

They aren't classified as expansions though, are they? I thought all three were considered stand alone products.

What is the StarCraft II Trilogy?
The StarCraft II Trilogy consists of the base StarCraft II game and two subsequent expansion sets. StarCraft II is subtitled Wings of Liberty (working title) and will include a lengthy single-player campaign that focuses on the terrans and puts players in the role of Jim Raynor, one of the series’ main heroes. The first expansion set, Heart of the Swarm (working title), will follow later and include a single-player campaign focusing on the zerg and Kerrigan, Queen of Blades. The second expansion set, Legacy of the Void (working title), will continue the story experience with a single-player campaign centered on the protoss.

I think, L&O, they were saying you'd be able to buy just the expansion set and play online with it (if you just wanted to play the zerg campaign or whatever) and not require the original. But, I don't know if this is still the case.

I'm skipping SC2 in favor of D3. I'm just not into RTS games as much as I used to be.
