I personally created a lot of buzz at my store before it came out when I had it on display.
Yes, that's PE3, called "The 3rd Birthday."

Holy shit, Parasite Eve 3? I've still got my old Parasite Eve games stashed around somewhere. That and FF IV are easily the most exciting things I'm seeing in this thread.

Nice. That game looks great. The Wii control during battles looks like it'll be fun.

Yup. DQS was one of the two reasons I bought my Wii.

I don't really see that as a problem. It looks like it plays like the old arcade shooters like Time Crisis with some RPG elements added to the mix. Depending on the length of the game and the how the battle system plays out, it's likely to have far more replayability then some clunky play-once-and-shelf RPG. Not every game with a sword in it has to be exactly like Zelda.

Man, if they slapped a Star Wars license on that DQ game and changed it from swords to lightsabers they'd sell a bazillion copies.

That's not funny - that's his point. Star Wars would certainly sell over here, but I don't think it would trump DQ in Japan.

I really don't know what Lucasart's hold up is. Even if it is the same game as DQ:S with different textures and Force Pushes instead of a shield, I'd be happy as hell. Some side story as Vader during the Jedi Purge (Order 66) era.

Cool. The tutorial level could have you plowing through all the Jedi children.

So is Dragon Quest Swords basically a Wii version of Kenshin Dragon Quest: Yomigaerishi Densetsu no Ken?

Yeah.. The defense on the game actually sounded pretty cool. I guess you have a shield that you can use to block and you move the wii-mote to block attacks with the shield.... and it seemed that as time goes on you can get different size and shaped shields for better defense.

The latest hands-on that I read seems to indicate that we'll be doing everything with the Wiimote - no nunchuck. You just toggle the shield aiming by holding the B (trigger) button. I'm fine with all that, but I think pushing up on the controller to walk might be uncomfortable unless I bring the left hand over for the walking sequences because my right thumb simply won't be able to reach it, iirc.

Call me underwhelmed. Im a square nut and adored dragon quest on ps2 as well as FFX. Played FF2/3 on SNES, finished FF7 3 times on PS1. There is nothing here for the "next gen" gamer who wants more of what hes loved so far. Why are portables all the rage? Dont these companys know there are older consumers who just want more of the same with prettier HD graphics and lossless sound? Get with it SE!!

Maybe you missed Final Fantasy XIII and The Last Remnant, both of which look to be very safe, by-the-numbers, nothing new games with extreme HD graphics for the "older audience" (whatever the hell that is supposed to mean). Portable games are popular right now because developers are finally getting the chance to go back to making games that are actually, you know, fun.

Yeah. That's not all bad for the Japanese market, but leaves us kind of screwed.
