Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin help

I didn't see a main PoR thread so here goes. I have been playing through this and selling shit as I find it. Problem is that I've sold things that apparently I needed for quests. I can't re-buy those items for some reason. Am I fucked?

Yep. There are some items that only appear once and if you sell them you can't finish the quest for them.

You're not fucked. All of those quests are optional.

Yeah, fucked in terms of finishing the quests. But other than for those that are completists doing most of them is completely pointless anyway and not needed to beat the game or see all of the endings.

I figured they were optional but now I have a couple stuck 'on' that I can't get rid of because I sold those items before I knew I needed them. Oh well.

The game is great thus far. I'm at the 4 portrait part(killed Frankenstein & the Mummy so far about 7 hours in. How long is the game?

I'm liking it a lot more than DoS. The game itself seems easier overall, but the boss fights are more difficult. I also like the breakup of the levels. A bunch of little levels instead of one massive map. I think I like the soul/weapon system of DoS better though.
