It's just a memory stick, no? How would this not work? Why does a PSP need to "support" it?

The firmware limits the max size of the memory stick. It was 4 gig but I don't know if the newer firmwares allow 8.

A quick Google search for "psp 8 gig firmware"
http://www.i4u.com/article6505.html (first link of results).

Yes, it was limited. Yes, it now supports 8 gigs (up to 32 actually). Yes, you need the right firmware.

I would recommend a 4 gig for $73.49 instead. I got 2 of them at $74.99 each and they work great. For Amazon you have to include shipping (it's through a third party, not through Amazon). Muotitek's price includes shipping.

This is a pretty good deal for a card this size. Funny thing, I use my PSP for Movies (from DVD), and Music more than playing games, although I have a few of my fav PS1 games on there. Also got my homebrew stuff on there.

Fry's has been having specials on the 4GB sticks every couple weeks, I think the best price they've had is around $45. I was using my PSP as a movie player while I ride the bike at the gym, but I decided instead to get a cheap ($75) 7" portable DVD player. I didn't like the idea of having a $200 piece of electronics to watch movies on a 4" screen, plus I didn't have my PSP at home to play games on. One thing though, the PSP does have a higher resolution screen than the portable DVD players.

I despise portable DVD players. I wish someone would release one with actual DVD resolution. All this talk of cheap 4GB sticks has me thinking about buying another damn PSP.

My brother bought one used off of someone and has been on an accessory splurge. He just picked up a 4 gig stick at Fry's like Perry is mentioning.
