What games do you consider yourself an Expert at?
Years ago I would have said Street Fighter II up through Alpha 1. I was never good enough to hang with the truly gifted/obcessed but I could defeat most people. However I'm so woefully out of practice I'd likely be schooled very shortly.

Call of Duty, Call of Duty:UO, and Call of Duty 2 (PC). I'm currently involved in a clan that used to support Call of Duty and used to involved with TWL Ladder matches (top 10 team).
Quake 2
Burnout Revenge and Unreal Tournament (PC).
Burnout Revenge online my rank hovers around 700. |
Decent in many, expert in none? I don't know, not sure if I would consider myself an expert in any game, although I wouldn't say that I'm BAD in any of the ones that I actually play.
Killer Instinct 2, man I love that game...
SF2 series. Hands down my best game.
Oh and I whip ass at Super Dodge Ball on the NES. Team All-Stars baby! |

Nothing recent. 2D Mario and Sonic games I was the best. Older Madden games.
Oh! And Ninja Gaiden 2 and Mike Tyson's Punch Out. I could beat Ninja Gaiden 2 without dying, and Mike Tyson was a cinch.
Super Mario Bros. 3
I turn this on and I'm running completely on automatic all the way through. I don't even think about getting those three star cards in a row, I just *DO*. |
Does Uno count? I've played lots of games but never good enough to consider myself an Expert at. Once I've finished them, I usually move on to the next.
Wait, I just remembered one. Contra for NES I am definitely an expert at.
Call of Duty 2 and Halo 2. I'm no where near the very best but, I can hold my own and consider myself above average.
It's been a long time since I played a game enough to feel that I was an expert. Two of my old ones are Contra (NES) and The Legend of Zelda. I pushed myself to master each level of Contra to not need the cheat code and used to be able to sit down and burn through Zelda, either collecting everything or saving time and just getting the necessities.
I play such a large variety now though that I do not put that kind of effort into a single game, instead prefering to beat one and move on, returning to old favorites on occasion. |
Ultimate Doom and Doom 2
Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart 64. Back when I was in my prime of videogames.

Definitely only an expert on Guitar Hero I/II. I'm not world class, but I'm pretty darn close. I was also pretty good at Galaga back in the day, but definitely not an expert.
I think I'm better at Chubby Cherub then Jovo or his brother Underwear Man.
Alright, after some thinking and suggestions in this thread I have a few:
Mega Man 2: got to where I could finish the game with one life Mario Kart 64: no one will even play this anymore with me :( Goldeneye: mopped the floor with friends due to Turok style control Ninja Gaiden 2: Only played it once, but beat it with first life on my first try ========= Old school Ms. Pac Man: Probably not an expert but can make it further than most on arcade machines and typically make it onto the leaderboard if I have time. Joust: Not sure of the differences but made it to wave 256 on the Atari 400. |
Buffy: Chaos Bleeds, Call of Duty 2, Uno, Dead Rising, Hitman: Blood Money, Command and Conquer games, Perfect Dark (N64)
Wonder Boy in Monster Land for the arcade. I can beat it on one quarter and clear two to three million depending on how much extra gold I can amass. I also fancy myself an expert at manic shmups, but I know that my skills are not shit compared to so many other players out there. I'd daresay I could probably wipe most people out in Puyo Puyo.. as long as they're not Japanese Puyo players.
Of course, that's the the problem with the internet concerning game skillies, no matter how great you are at a game, you can do a quick search and be instantly shamed. |
Robotron and Asteroids Deluxe. Neither of which is an easy game as you get to higher levels. ;)

UT 2K4 and possibly Tekken Tag, Tekken 5....although I've only played a handful of people. I'm a middle of the pack player in COD2, Halo2, and GOW oh and j/k Ed :) |
