I'll pick up that Police set (big fan of the band). Probably Fortunate Son and Buddy Holly when available as well.

Did you ever think you'd see the day people would line up to purchase a $180 video game? Unreal. Having just said that though, I wonder who came up with the $180 price point -- I mean the game was getting preordered like crazy at $200, right?
I'm satisfied with the price of the DLC. I had a feeling it was going to be in line with GH's pricing, and they actually undercut that a little bit. Like a bunch of others, I've had points stockpiled from the CC thingy several months ago, so everything I get in the beginning will be at a "discount", at least from an out of pocket standpoint.

I said I probably wasn't going to get any DLC out of the gate, since there's so much great stuff in the game, but FREAKIN' METALLICA!!! And good Metallica at that!
Definitely not "take your breath away" pricing, but a nice little break.

to the Metallica pack. I have a feeling that one will be huge and probably be their best seller.
I know this is a dumb question, but the DLC is only for 360, right? Is there a way for PS2 owners to get the DLC?

Thanks,
Fortunately, none of my area Best Buys are opening at midnight, so I hope to purchase this online with in-store pickup near my work. The DLC looks great, and really opens the door to endless songs in the future (80s, 90s) .. Heck, they could probably even do rap (ala MTV Unplugged LL Cool J)

Thanks,
PS2 owners will never be able to get DLC and are stuck with just what's on the disc. If there was ever a game to upgrade to next-gen for, I'd say this is it!

There is one about 30 minutes away from me, and the only BB in Michigan doing the midnight release. I probably won't go to it as I'm sure people will be there hours in advance.

I'm hoping that I can do instore pick up through BB Online. But I bet they will not allow that the first week or two because demand will be high. But, once they update the website, I will see. Right now it only says coming soon for both delivery and instore pick up. You can't even add it to your shopping cart.
I certainly hope they do instore pick up as that would make it easier since Tuesday is a work day for me.
You know, the slight discount on DLC from GH prices looks like even a bigger discount when you take into consideration that you actually have 3x as much play potential with each song (guitar, drums, singing).
I already have mine on pre-order, but I'm still curious about future shipments. Have they announced anything beyond this coming week, the initial release week shipments?
I was hoping to see For Whom the Bell Tolls in that pack, but I can over look it considering they included ...And Justice For All. My Live Shit Seattle dreams will finally be reality. Now I just need a destructible Doris to go with it.

Are you talking about the one in Madison Heights? Im headed there around 11pm that night to see whats going on. If I can get it cool. If not, Ill head over to a 24 hr. Walmart. Then an 8am Target and finally just get my preorder from Gamestop if all else fails.

Yeah, the one in Madison Heights is the only one in Michigan doing the midnight launch.

I'm still debating on going or not. I wonder how many they are getting in? 11pm would probably be the earliest I'd head there. But I'd hate to drive all that way to find they have 100 available and there are already 200 people in line at that point.
I hope this will be the first of many Metallica packs, with more content from their first three albums. And Justice for All is an interesting choice, considering it's a nearly 10 minute song, and I would have chosen Creeping Death instead of Ride the Lightning. Maybe they are saving Master of Puppets for a complete album download. I would love to see an Iron Maiden pack right away (e.g. Running Free).

That sounds like a distinct possibility.
It looks like I've found my answer:

Rock Band is going to be a hot ticket this year, and since Ben is handling the review, I have to buy mine like a civilian. I just got off the phone with the EBGames and GameStop stores here in town and discovered an interesting fact: The Rock Band bundle is going to be very—VERY—hard to come by this holiday season.

I preordered Rock Band the day before Guitar Hero 3 was released, and that has turned out to be a good move. I called up my local EB (staffed by cool people, defying the stereotype) to check and see if they were doing a midnight release. Apparently EB/GameStop corporate has canceled the midnight launch parties at a number of stores. Many locations are only going to get enough units to cover their preorders and then...

...no more units until next year.

When I contacted another local GameStop, they told me the same thing and informed me that they were only allowed to sell four preorders for the whole store. They, as well, are expecting no additional Rock Band bundles until next year.

We made a few more calls in other areas of the country and there are still some stores having midnight launches, but everyone expressed doubts about restocks. If you're serious about getting the game, make the calls to your local stores, and get there early.
I know they have already said One will be one of the Metallica downloadable tracks, so there are surely more to come.
I originally had mine coming from Amazon at regular shipping, but it was only $15 for next day, so supposedly it ships on the 20th and I'll get it on the 21st. Too bad we are heading out on a 10 hour car trip that night, but at least it won't be sitting on my porch over the holiday weekend.

Of course, I also won't be back until the following Tuesday. Gonna be a long holiday weekend for me.
Well, it would appear as though I am going to have to go to Wal-Mart (the local twenty-four hour one), and hang out for a little while before to, hopefully, pick up a bundle for the 360...
Quote: Three bundles!? What are you going to do with all of them?
Put myself through college hopefully.

I called a rep there a few days ago and she said they will giving the pre order people their bundles first but there will be plenty of bundles for others as well. I guess we'll see. There is a 24 hr. Walmart about 10-15 from there so that'll be my next destination if BB is out of stock.

Quick question about Gamestops pre orders. I have never preordered from there (except my 360 which I cancelled after I was upset about the price only to find myself searching all over Michigan for a month to get one--long story ) but I have heard bad things about them. Since I pre-ordered it from them (the 25 dollar bundle preorder) will it GUARANTEE me RB on opening day? I hate to hear them say: They only gave us xxx amount and it didnt cover all of our preorders so we'll put you on the waiting list. Id be pissed. Ill be getting there at opening though so that might help.

They did call me about the 360 that I cancelled cuz they thought I still had it pre ordered. When I went there trying to trick them and get it, they said even though they called me to pick it up they didnt see my reciept.
So I assume the 360 version will be in much higher demand than the PS3 version.

I got a pre-order in with Amazon for the PS3 version last week. I noticed they are not taking pre-orders anymore, so I am hoping mine will ship next week. I really want to try the drums!

Worst case scenario, if I don't get it until next month or next year, I've got Super Mario Galaxy, Assassin's Creed, COD4, GHIII, The Simpsons, Star Wars Lego and like 10 other games to get through anyway.
The fact that My Sharona will be a downloadable song makes me upset I have chosen to wait until the wireless guitar comes out in February. The wait should be brutal now.

Hmmm.. I wonder if they are still taking pre-orders. I will be there this weekend at my parents and could swing by there quick. if they are still taking pre-orders and guarentee that pre-orders get their games first, that might be worth it.
So, i'm jumping on this bandwagon kind of late. I was going to buy this game all along, but i never knew the demand would be this high. So what is my best bet at finding this game on release day? I was planning on going to walmart at midnight. I stopped at Gamestop but they weren't taking PS3 pre-orders, so that idea is out.

Any ideas? or is walmart my best bet.

I haven't pre-ordered anything from there in a long time (maybe the N64 days?) but it wouldn't surprise me at all if this happened.
