I want to know how, in any way, shape or form they feel "left out" because DMC 4 is going to be multi-platform. Do they even know what "left out" means?

Over 10,000 whiners, I mean "signatures" on that petition now! Like any of them will commit to that.

Many of them are just other people saying how stupid the petition is. Look at some of the entries, it's kind of funny.

Those people are more stupid than the ones who signed it legitimately. By signing it, they are saying they refuse to buy DMC4 even though that was not their intention.

i don't think so. they are still going to purchase the game, and they are trying to jeopardize the legitimacy of the petition itself

at least, thats the way I view it. It's not like its going to affect Capcom's decision what so ever

No it did not influence Capcom at all. Capcom's response to the petition

We are certainly moved that people are so passionate about our products that they would go to such extremes. At the same time we feel that allowing more people access to our content pleases far more people than it displeases (after all, we're not denying DMC4 to anyone that was already going to get it). It really is the best decision for the company and for consumers.
I can't believe Capcom took the time to respond to such an idiotic petition. It's not like they will change the opinions of the fanboys who signed.

I think it was smart on their behalf, considering the fact that the petition really contradicts itself. They are mad about denying them their favorite video game, or whatever, but instead are trying to keep it off another system entirely, which would deter more people from getting the game.

In this response, its basically letting those 10,000 or so people know "hey, guess what? We are going to be making SO much more money this way, that it wouldn't matter if there were 100,000 signatures" or something to that effect.

Looks like they are taking the high road to me

I dunno, I think most people acknowledge internet petitions as being worthless, and this just takes it to the next level.

Yeah but you should hear some of the crap that can come out a rabid fanboy or girl when they're favorite game goes multiplatform. Not a day goes by that I dont hear something like...

I refuse to buy (insert game/console here) because (insert format-Console A, B or C) just can't support the graphical power of (game) but what I really hope is (insert wet/pipe dream here) but I know that (insert spirit crushing industry jargon he/she read on the internet) Why can't they just (insert decent idea, but veer off into how he/she doesnt like Tony Hawk games)...etc...etc.

Back on topic sorry. I'm excited to see DMC 4 come to 360, I was honestly going to buy a PS3 just for that game...well and MGS 4. Not that I wont buy one ever I'm just going to hold out a little longer, although that Ratchet game does look pretty sweet.

Devil May Cry 4 Update

Producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi doesn't want system wars.

June 1, 2007 - Devil May Cry 4 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi has at last spoken out following Capcom's decision to make its big PS3 exclusive multiplatform. Fittingly, Famitsu's all Xbox 360 publication, Famitsu Xbox 360, was the recipient of Kobayashi's most recent comments on the game.

Kobayashi was first asked to comment on how DMC4 became a multiplatform title. "Devil May Cry is an extremely strong name overseas," explained the producer, "so there was of course the business decision that we couldn't exclude the Xbox 360. We're using an engine called Framework for development, and it's extremely easy to have a multiplatform strategy including the PC. You can say that Devil May Cry 4 is the first such offering. With the increase in platforms, we have the chance of more people being able to play the game, so we're also happy as developers."

You might think that having to make DMC4 for three platforms instead of just one would trouble Kobayashi, but that doesn't seem to be the case. On moving the PS3-targeted game to the Xbox 360, he said, "The game engine is shared, so compared to previous hardware, I believe it's easy. However, we've just started with the Xbox 360 version following the announcement, so there's still a ways to go."

Xbox 360 and PS3 owners alike can look forward to the same experience. "The content will be exactly the same," said Kobayashi. "Regardless of which one you buy, you will be able to get the same enjoyment. What's different is perhaps the shape of the controller and graphic peculiarities for each hardware. We wanted to avoid arguments about which one is better."

Moving away from multiplatform differences, the magazine asked Kobayashi if the game is progressing well following last year's playable debut at the Tokyo Game Show. "I believe progress is on the positive side of things, but this is the team's first time with next generation hardware development, so we are faced with a variety of problems and concerns. Clearing those is difficult." With a laugh, he noted that they'd have probably finished the game by now if it were on the PS2.

The game will run at 60 frames per second, Kobayashi reconfirmed. In fact, he considers the framerate a hurdle that the development team has set up for itself, and one that is taking up a good deal of its time.

Kobayashi wouldn't set himself to a release date (although a recent Capcom financial report pretty much confirmed a fiscal 2007 release). He did promise an advanced version at the Tokyo Game Show this September. We'll of course be in attendance, and will let you know how things have changed since last year, hopefully on both the PS3 and Xbox 360.

DMC 4 Collector's Edition Dated, Detailed

Discs galore will accompany the pricier version of the gothic action sequel.

November 5, 2007 - Capcom has announced the details of the console versions of the Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition, due in stores on Feb. 5.

In addition to the game, the special set comes in a metal case and will include The Devil May Cry: The Animated Series anime disc. That disc will comes with the first four episodes of the 12-episode anime series (Vol. I of the four-disc DVD anime series will also be available from ADV Films at the same time the game launches).

The Collector's Edition will also include a bonus DVD containing a "making of" feature on the game, music from the Devil May Cry 4 soundtrack, a digital art book with images and sketches from the development team, wallpapers, icons and screen savers. The set will sell at a suggested retail price of $79.99.

Devil May Cry 4 takes gamers to a gothic supernatural world, where a new protagonist clashes with series mainstay Dante. As new leading man Nero, players will be able to unleash attacks and non-stop combos using a combination of the Devil Bringer arm and the Exceed system, both of which are new gameplay mechanics for the series.

DMC4 will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Might be off topic, but is there any word on the rumored box set of DMC 1-3 for the 360? I would like to play those in HD.

Capcom Confirm DMC4 Demo Available BEFORE Launch
Written Friday, December 07, 2007 by Dan Webb

Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today confirmed that owners of Sony Computer Entertainment’s PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft will be able to experience Devil May Cry® 4 early, thanks to the release of a playable demo. A free downloadable demo of the game will be available on the PLAYSTATION®Store and Xbox LIVE® Marketplace in early 2008. Devil May Cry 4 has been rated M for Mature by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB).

The demo introduces gamers to the gothic-inspired supernatural world of Devil May Cry 4, new protagonist Nero and the awesome power of his Devil Bringer. The demo consists of a sampling of sections from the full game, chosen to showcase Devil May Cry 4’s varied locales and allows gamers to familiarize themselves with Nero’s unique abilities. Players will receive instruction on the various new actions that the Devil Bringer bestows, such as the ability to slam creatures to the ground, cover great distances in a single bound or even grab enemies while on the ground or in the air and pull them towards Nero to continue the attack combo. The Exceed system allows Nero to “rev up” his sword as if it were a motorcycle throttle and unleash devastating attacks. Players will need to master all these techniques before the end of demo showdown with the mighty Berial.

Fully demonstrating the power of the next generation of consoles, the Devil May Cry 4 demo brings to life the coastal city of Fortuna and its surroundings, such as the port and snow-capped mountain ranges in exquisite detail. Devil May Cry 4 delivers its intense action at a constant 60 frames per second at 720P resolution on HD monitors, ensuring seamless and breathtaking gameplay all in stunning high definition.

60 frames per second, yes! It's pretty sad how few "next-gen" games achieve this.

They done need to, our eyes only se at 29.7 FPS (around there, not exactly sure of the number) so as long as the game is 45 FPS im happy.

I played through the first one. Skipped the second one. Bought the special edition of the third one, and my ps2 blew up (for the fourth time) before I could really get into the game so I am seriously excited about this one.

Well, there's no denying the production value on it is fantastic. I was just hoping for a little more varied gameplay this time around. Not sure it's worth $60.

Can't wait to try this tonight. Its one of my most highly anticipated games of the year. However, I've never played a DMC game before. Do I need to play the others first, do you think?
