i don't think so. they are still going to purchase the game, and they are trying to jeopardize the legitimacy of the petition itself

We are certainly moved that people are so passionate about our products that they would go to such extremes. At the same time we feel that allowing more people access to our content pleases far more people than it displeases (after all, we're not denying DMC4 to anyone that was already going to get it). It really is the best decision for the company and for consumers. |
I think it was smart on their behalf, considering the fact that the petition really contradicts itself. They are mad about denying them their favorite video game, or whatever, but instead are trying to keep it off another system entirely, which would deter more people from getting the game.
In this response, its basically letting those 10,000 or so people know "hey, guess what? We are going to be making SO much more money this way, that it wouldn't matter if there were 100,000 signatures" or something to that effect. Looks like they are taking the high road to me |

Producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi doesn't want system wars. June 1, 2007 - Devil May Cry 4 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi has at last spoken out following Capcom's decision to make its big PS3 exclusive multiplatform. Fittingly, Famitsu's all Xbox 360 publication, Famitsu Xbox 360, was the recipient of Kobayashi's most recent comments on the game. Kobayashi was first asked to comment on how DMC4 became a multiplatform title. "Devil May Cry is an extremely strong name overseas," explained the producer, "so there was of course the business decision that we couldn't exclude the Xbox 360. We're using an engine called Framework for development, and it's extremely easy to have a multiplatform strategy including the PC. You can say that Devil May Cry 4 is the first such offering. With the increase in platforms, we have the chance of more people being able to play the game, so we're also happy as developers." You might think that having to make DMC4 for three platforms instead of just one would trouble Kobayashi, but that doesn't seem to be the case. On moving the PS3-targeted game to the Xbox 360, he said, "The game engine is shared, so compared to previous hardware, I believe it's easy. However, we've just started with the Xbox 360 version following the announcement, so there's still a ways to go." Xbox 360 and PS3 owners alike can look forward to the same experience. "The content will be exactly the same," said Kobayashi. "Regardless of which one you buy, you will be able to get the same enjoyment. What's different is perhaps the shape of the controller and graphic peculiarities for each hardware. We wanted to avoid arguments about which one is better." Moving away from multiplatform differences, the magazine asked Kobayashi if the game is progressing well following last year's playable debut at the Tokyo Game Show. "I believe progress is on the positive side of things, but this is the team's first time with next generation hardware development, so we are faced with a variety of problems and concerns. Clearing those is difficult." With a laugh, he noted that they'd have probably finished the game by now if it were on the PS2. The game will run at 60 frames per second, Kobayashi reconfirmed. In fact, he considers the framerate a hurdle that the development team has set up for itself, and one that is taking up a good deal of its time. Kobayashi wouldn't set himself to a release date (although a recent Capcom financial report pretty much confirmed a fiscal 2007 release). He did promise an advanced version at the Tokyo Game Show this September. November 5, 2007 - Capcom has announced the details of the console versions of the Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition, due in stores on Feb. 5. In addition to the game, the special set comes in a metal case and will include The Devil May Cry: The Animated Series anime disc. That disc will comes with the first four episodes of the 12-episode anime series (Vol. I of the four-disc DVD anime series will also be available from ADV Films at the same time the game launches). They done need to, our eyes only se at 29.7 FPS (around there, not exactly sure of the number) so as long as the game is 45 FPS im happy. |

I played through the first one. Skipped the second one. Bought the special edition of the third one, and my ps2 blew up (for the fourth time) before I could really get into the game so I am seriously excited about this one.

Can't wait to try this tonight. Its one of my most highly anticipated games of the year. However, I've never played a DMC game before. Do I need to play the others first, do you think?

So I just played the 10min demo and I have to ask...people like these games? Theres a cut scene every 5 seconds showing me a door. The camera is static like the first Resident Evil so Up is down, and left is right sometimes. And all you do is hit "Y" and "B" and listen to him yell "SLAM DUNK!" Seriously, is this the best they can do?

That's DMC. They've all been that way. The fun usually came in playing as Dante and trying out all kinds of crazy moves. I'm sure that aspect will be present in 4. The demo seems to be from a very early point in the game where Nero only has a few attacks. Also, as neat as Nero's demon arm is, he's no Dante.

I haven't played any DMC games either. Wasn't there supposed to be compilation sets of the first 3 re-released on 360? Or was that just a rumor?

I got the Devil May Cry boxset for $30 a few months ago. Fantastic deal! Haven't really gotten very far in the first Devil May Cry yet, but I decided to give this demo a while. Man, I absolutely loved it! DMC4 went to a must buy for me...

From all the hype about this demo, I thought it was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. And it wasn't even close.

It sure looks good, but not much of a demo. What is all that talk about how the arm would ONLY be able to be done on the next generation of systems? Was there anything about that demo, other then graphics, that could not be done on a PS2?

Yeah, it was fun and looked great, but graphics aside, it was almost exactly like the PS2 games - not a bad thing, but hardly "next-gen", or even current-gen.

I'm sure I'll enjoy the game, but it wasn't a great demo by any means. Thats actually been my problem with a lot of current gen games... they're sequels. |
I agree with you guys about the looks and gameplay. I'll probably wait to get it used or when the price gets really low.

I liked it. Having only played DMC for PS2 it was a nice update on the graphics. Though the gameplay didn't seem to change much. I don't mind. There aren't any good games out this year so far, I'll pick this up depending on whether or not Soul Calibur 4 hits.

for those of you got both X360 and PS3, have you DL both demos? I can't DL the X360 version yet, since i'm silver, not gold...
which version's control you like better? i can't comment on the X360 version, but i like the PS3 version very much. The camera control is pretty crappy though (comparing to Ninja Gaiden demo). I have DMC3 for the PS2, but only played 20 minutes or so, so i can't say i'm an experienced DMC player. However, while playing the 2nd mode (the snowing part), man, i'm impressed, it's like getting a glimpse of God of War 3! |

8.5 Presentation While this is more Nero's story than Dante's, this chapter of the DMC franchise maintains just about every facet of the series fans have come to know and love. 9.0 Graphics Visually arresting and vibrantly depicted, this is one of those games that showcases the power of your system. 9.0 Sound From sarcasm to apathy, the dialogue is almost perfectly delivered. Mixed with the trademark electrometal soundtrack, this is DMC through and through. 8.5 Gameplay Dante feels more like an afterthought than a real addition, the Exceed system is a bit weak, and the repetitive level design is particularly dismaying. i got this game last night played for a few hours since im home sick..got to level/chapter 6 and enjoying it alot more then i expected. felt a lil stiff on the 360 but i just gotta get use to the controller tho.
some of the Platforming parts I have found annoying but nothing too bad yet |

It took simplistic gameplay and melded it with stylistic sequences to create a dynamic spin on the action platformer. Looking forward to trying out this game someday, but it will be a while, since I don't buy games new anymore. I'm glad to see good reviews though, really had me worried they would screw up again...

It's actually the other way around. Devil May Cry 2 was far too easy (you could simply shoot all your enemies from a distance and never worry about using your sword) and many consider Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening far too difficult. In fact, the US release version of the third game was more difficult than the Japanese release (each difficulty was a step higher in the US so what in Japan was "hard" was "normal" in the US and so on). In fact, when Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening SPECIAL EDITION was released in the US, the difficulty was brought down to be easier like the Japanese release. That said, DMC4 seems to have the balance right. To me it feels about as difficult as the first one. DMC3 was too difficult by far. I ended up dropping it after trying to beat one of the bosses (2 bosses them at the same time that is). It was too difficult. I may go back and pick up the SE for the more reasonable difficulty. |
Anyword when this is due for PC? I want to play through it gradually, but not for $60. (Seeing as how PC software tends to drop in price.. fast).
