i just joined on firefoot. As far as my experience with MMOs go, i've played swg, everquest2, d&d, eve online, & Wow, and i can say that this game feels ALOT like WOW. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. It's actually quite fun and not as buggy as the other sin their first month of debut. So i will recommend this to people looking for a new mmo. (I've read too many horror stories with vanguard and the warhammer mmo is delayed til next year). so try it out if you're itching for an mmo. i think fry's has it on sale for 34.99

Bump.

Anyone still playing this? I just downloaded a 7-day trial. Pretty fun so far.

I tried it a couple of times. All it did was bring back memories of WoW, so I signed back up to that instead and bought the expansion.

The first expansion, MINES OF MORIA, is now up and running. Why no love for this great mmo?

I was in the closed beta and subscribed to it briefly. I had a number of problems with the game. The PVP is unengaging. The character models are terrible. Everybody looks pretty much the same for the first 30 levels or so. Item repair, mounts and housing are waaaay too expensive. Way too many grouping required quests, especially the Book quests. Too many of the same type of quests (god help me if I have to kill x number of boars, then have to go back and kill the same boars just to get to the King of the boars).

The only thing LOTR has that others don't is scenery. The world is just unbelievable.

For the simple reason that I did not understand it. I am not new to MMORPG's having played Asherons Call, Dark Age of Camelot and now Warhammer.

I just did not feel connected to the story, understand what my objectives were and when I tried to ask questions on several websites, all I got was alot of attitude.

Re: Lord of the Rings Online

it looks like it's also got a subscription thing. I'm not down for that. I usually play something and then not for a while and then pick it up months later, so I guess this type of thing isn't for me.

Re: Lord of the Rings Online

bump

This is now a free to play game. Downloading the game now. From what I've read, you can do a ton of stuff for free and the micro transactions are minimal.
