X360: VGA or Component?
I hooked up my 360 using the component cables from the HD pack that came with my 360, but after hooking up the PS3 via HDMI, the 360 looks inferior to the PS3. So after looking around, I see the VGA adapter is available for the 360. Which connection will provide a better picture, the component or VGA? I did a Google search & all I find is "VGA is better...", "No, component is...".
Do they both provide HD? Which is better in your opinion? And, what are the pros & cons of each?

VGA supports up to 1080p and upscales DVDs, some complain it has washed out colors though.
Component supports 720p/1080i, doesn't upscale DVDs, and has beautiful color by default.

No upscaling of SD-DVDs, however.
Like I said, I don't have a TV with 1080p-component, but I've read plenty of posters here claimed component will do 1080p.

I think it depends on your TV and preference. There have been a lot of discussions over at the avsforums about this. I use the VGA since I use the 360 for dvds and games and I think only VGA upconverts dvd's?
Both will do 1080p as long as your tv accepts 1080p from both inputs. Some claim VGA colors are washed out, others say component has too much contrast. Also, apparently Microsoft has made adjustments with the updates, especially with the VGA output, improving the washed out colors.

VGA looks drastically better on my setup, I think they must have fixed the color problem. And the upsampling on DVDs makes a big difference. First time I have a player that compares in pic quality to my old Sony S7000.

I bought a HD TV last week and so I've just recently done a comparison between the component cables and the VGA cable. I'm going with the VGA cable because while there is just a touch of a color difference, it upscales DVDs. Games still look fantastic on VGA.

It depends on the Tv sometimes. I have a Sony XBR and the VGA on it totally blows. It doesn't do the full 1080 resolution and doesn't fill the screen and is really washed out. However on my friend's Samsung the component looks slightly better than the VGA but he uses the VGA for DVD upscaling.

Is there a reason the system doesn't upscale via component? Is it something that can be fixed by a possible future software update or is it hardware related? My Panny doesn't accept VGA so I am out of luck at the moment.
