PS3 HDMI/DVI Question
Hello all,
I'm planning on getting a PS3 pretty soon but like some others my HD ready tv, actually only has a DVI input.
I have a HDMI>DVI converter cable.
Which, works fine with my upscaling dvd player as it has audio out puts on the back so I can still feed the audio to my tv.
By the looks of it the ps3 does not have this.. it uses that small connection cable again.
So im trying to figure out how I will be able to view the ps3 in HD and be able to hear it at the same time.
Does anyone know of a solution or cable to help with this?
Any replys are much appreciated.
Thank you.

Does your tv do 1080p, the PS3 will do every resolution except that on component. So I would suggest you just use component. If your tv does have 1080p I believe you can use the AV multiout for stereo sound.

The ps3 allows you to specify the audio output and video output seperately. You can select HDMI for video and then select the normal a/v cable (that comes with the ps3) for sound. My hdtv only has dvi so I use a hdmi to dvi cable for video and the pack in av cable for sound. Works perfectly and looks great! I have a hitachi 51G500 rear projection tv.

I'm planning to use component, i have dvi on the back of the TV as well, but what's the point? I don't think i'll a significant difference using DVI than component. Besides, i want to leave the DVI free so that i can hook up to a PC or media player.
I believe PS component cables are $5-ish and if you have one for the PS2, you don't need to buy one for the PS3.
If you use HDMI to DVI converter, then you'll need another cable for the audio, ah, too many wires on the back my TV...

I found a soloution in the end.. this cable for my audio
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=270083616378
so i'll have the HDMI > DVI for video
And this for using the component audio.
Confusing situation having a tv without HDMI..
Bring on march 23rd!!
