360 Problem - Game or Console?
I haven't had any problems with my 360 until now and I'm pretty sure it's the game / disk... Tonight I go to play GOW and it just sits at "reading" for a looooong time..
I decide to shut it off and turn it back on.. This time it just sits at the green XBOX logo until I decide to hit eject.. It then goes to the dashboard. I then hit the button again to put the disk back in and it just sits at reading again...
The disk looks fine. No visible major (or even minor really) scratches.. I cleaned it off just for grins but that didn't work..
All my other games work fine.
Ideas?

Inept User Error?
Get a disk replacement dude like TNA does for every game he owns. I'm sure it's just the game but have you tried clearing the cache lately?

No it doesn't wipe out the game saves n such but it does help some people. just do a google search for "xbox 360 clear cache" there is a new method for it that is a bit more complex than the old method where you just held the "A" button while a game was loading.
Anyhow most wal-marts are stupid enough to take your defective disk without a reciept.

You need to reset your Xbox 360, and hold down the A button as the game boots up. Otherwise you can try a more extensive cleanup.
This code allows you to clear the entire hard drive cache:
Go to the system blade and then select memory.
Press Y on the HD symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?
Performing this function will also clear any software updates.

So if I do $iche $ich's method I will lose software updates? How's about game saves and the like.. Downloaded map packs etc..I dunno if I'd be able to do the first method because the 360 just hangs with GOW in when I boot it.

You don't lose game saves using $ichie's method but you do lose the software updates, which isn't really a big deal since it only takes seconds to get the update again. And you can do it from the Dashboard. Exodus and I were having a bit of a problem when we were playing GOW one night and we both did the clear cache and if I remember correctly it took care of our issues.

well basically the 'A' clear cache function has no real confirmation (at least to you) that it ever did anything in the first place. So I think the major difference between that method and the newer more complex one is that it actually tells you that it's clearing the cache before it does.

I've never tried the more complex method. I've only done the 'A' button approach and it usually solves my problems. I don't have these problems very often because I have a seperate 360 for each game. That way each system doesn't wear out. Here is a shot of my basement storage room.

It worked for the PS1.
