I didn't see it mentioned, but have we gotten any of the music videos that were used to promote Lumines yet?
|
Bought a 360 on Wednesday night.
Hooked it up Thursday after work. :frankie: Played yesterday after work and this morning. :rock2: Tonight, it started freezing. :mad2: Tomorrow, I take it back to Circuit City and exchange it for a new one. :grumble: Somehow, in the 48 hours I've had the damned thing out of the box, I've managed to misplace the headset and ethernet cable (both of which are still in their bright green/orange plastic wrapping!), so exchanging is going to be a pain. |
Sorry to hear that JasonF.
I hope MS can get a handle on this because shit like this does nothing but give Wii owners something to laugh about.:( |
Yeah, I love the system but MS needs to step up the QA. What month was yours produced in, Jason?

The good news -- I figured out where I put the ethernet cable and headset, so they hopefully won't give me any grief when I go to exchange it. |
The fact it sat there through xmas isn't surprising really, if you walked into any Best Buy they had damn near a thousand of them.
|
anyone get the Lumines add-ons? I really like the skin/video that they have there .. Bring on more!
|
I got the vs CPU pack and the heavenly star skin. Thank the gods that heavenly star was free. I'd be ultra pissed to have paid for that. But the additional skins that vs CPU unlocks were well worth the 100 points to me :)
|
So would you guys say the game is nearing worth the price now with some cheap add-ons? The whole 1200 point thing is so killing me for wanting to pick up the base game.
|
Has there been an official date for Castlevania on live Arcade?

This has probably been answered somewhere else, but I can't seem to find it:
If I power off the 360, does it continue to download the demos? Or does the system have to be on to download demos? |

I've got a quick question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I'm planning on getting Apple's new AirPort Extreme in a couple weeks and setting up a wireless network. I just have a PowerBook G4 and I'm tired of having to screw with USB cables every time I have to print or access my external hard drive. For my 360, I'm just planning on running an ethernet cable from the AirPort base station to the console. I'd really like to set things up so I can access my music library on the 360 without having to 1) plug my ipod into the front of the console or 2) having to have my laptop turned on. I'm wondering, will the 360 be able to pull music from my external hard drive over the network, without my computer being turned on? If not, would it recognize my ipod if I plugged that in as a device on the network? Thanks for any and all help anyone can offer.

Is there a noticable quality difference between the VGA cable and the component cables?

Games look as good with the VGA cable though? I've been running 1080i over component. |
From what I've seen VGA picture looks good, but the colors always seem less saturated than those coming from component. You may be able to overcome this with settings in your tv/monitor.

UT 2007 renamed, 360-bound Epic Games' once-PC-and-PS3-exclusive shooter is now headed to Microsoft's new console with a slightly tweaked title, Unreal Tournament III. By Tor Thorsen, GameSpot Posted Jan 26, 2007 4:01 pm PT LAS VEGAS--For a while, it appeared that Epic Games had appeased both Sony and Microsoft with console exclusives. One year after it had teased audiences with some unidentified footage at the 2005 Electronic Entertainment Expo, the developer announced it was bringing Unreal Tournament 2007 to the PlayStation 3 as well as the PC. Given the legendary stature of the Unreal series, that news appeared to trump Epic's deal with Microsoft to bring an all-new game, Gears of War, exclusively to the Xbox 360. Now, it appears Epic has had a change of heart. Thursday night at the 2007 Midway Gamers' Day at the Hard Rock Casino, Epic vice president Mark Rein swaggered onto the stage to announce two things. First, that Unreal Tournament 2007 will henceforth be known as Unreal Tournament III. "The new name is to reflect the fact that this game is the next generation of the Unreal series, based on the Unreal Engine 3," said Rein, brimming with confidence. Then Rein dropped a bombshell, announcing that Unreal Tournament III will also arrive on the Xbox 360 when it hits stores later this year. "The 360 is a platform that we've had a little bit of success on," joked Rein, referencing Gears' record-setting sales. As of last week, Gears of War had sold 3 million units worldwide, making it the fastest-selling Xbox 360 game of all time. Chris |

Then again, I hate playing discs in a console drive. I like putting as little wear and tear on them as possible. |

Midway fighting World War II on 360 Publisher is prepping Hour of Victory, a new Xbox 360-exclusive, Unreal 3-based shooter, for a summer release. By Tor Thorsen, GameSpot Posted Jan 26, 2007 4:00 pm PT LAS VEGAS--Traditional opinion is that World War II lasted just under six years, from the German invasion of Poland in September 1939 to the Japanese surrender in August 1945. Some historians think that WWII actually started in 1937, when the Japanese invaded China and started a brutal eight-year campaign in Asia. In the game industry, though, World War II is never-ending. Each year, Activision's Call of Duty, Electronic Arts' Medal of Honor, and Ubisoft's Brothers in Arms--among others--resurrect the epic conflict. Today, Midway announced that it, too, is getting into the WWII game with Hour of Victory, a new shooter in development exclusively for the Xbox 360. The game is not yet rated or priced but is slated to go on sale this summer. Hour of Victory uses the Unreal Engine 3.0, the same tech framework behind Gears of War and the recently renamed Unreal Tournament III. It features a series of battles from the European and North African theaters, which saw the Americans and the British take on the Germans and the Italians. Players can play each level as one of three characters: a stealthy cover operative, an American sniper, or a British commando fond of frontal assaults. Players will also be able to seize control of and drive any vehicle on the battlefield. Executive Producer Mark Caldwell said Hour of Victory's more-character-driven, "big sandbox" approach and emphasis on adventure set it apart from other WWII shooters. "It's an Indiana Jones approach, versus a Saving Private Ryan approach," he said. For more information on Hour of Victory, check out GameSpot's exclusive hands-on preview from the 2007 Midway Gamers' Day. Chris |
I still haven't received my refund for having to pay to repair my original 360. Anyone else still waiting? I just called and was told that a second batch of cheques would be issued by mid to late February. The last time I called they said that it would simply go back on my credit card account.
C'mon Microsoft, just give me my damn money back! |
Was having some friends over for movie night and decided to get Lady in the Water in HD. I have a pretty speedy cable connection and can download at a max of 1 meg/second. I figured I'd have enough time to download the thing.
Bought it at 2pm Guests came at 5 Guests left at 11 Movie finished downloading at 12:30 What a complete waste I don't know what market MS is shooting for, but I can drive to the rental store and get a HD-DVD faster, that I can hold on to longer. And HD on demand from Time Warner loads instantly. I don't see the point to using this MS service unless I know a day in advance I'm going to want to watch a movie. I'm goign to try to call them and complain... I want my credit back.. no excuse for that download time. |

Can't you start watching it at 25% complete or something? Or is that only for SD stuff? I also have no desire at all for this service as I don't feel the price is right for a rental.

What? All I've seen is "off after 6 hours". Is there another feature/option I'm missing? I don't want my 360 sitting on for 6 hours doing nothing after a 45 minute dl session. Having it shut down after the dl means you can set up a download and walk away. I'm talking about an auto shutdown that happens immediately after a download finishes. |

I'm goign to try to call them and complain... I want my credit back.. no excuse for that download time. At your connection speed (1Mbps = 0.125 megabytes per second), you should expect it to take about 17 hours to download 8 GB. If the movies are only 4GB, even with no server overhead, it will take 8 hours to download. And this is why it'll be hard for this to catch on. Unless one has a 5Mbps cable connection, it'll take too long to download to make it worthwhile. |

Rewards coming for Xbox 360 Achievements? Source: Xbox fan site Unscripted 360, which picked up on a "partially torn document." The official story: Microsoft rep--"We have nothing to say about these rumors or speculation." What we heard: One of the more surprising innovations from Microsoft's Xbox 360 was the incorporation of Achievement Points into gameplay. By accomplishing certain tasks in Xbox 360 games, players are awarded points which are amassed into a personal GamerScore which spans all Xbox 360 games. The phenomenon has created "Achievement Point Whores," friendly competition, a cash-for-points business, and a cutthroat race to the top of the leaderboards. However, when all is said and done, Achievement Points really amount to nothing but bragging rights among the geek elite. That's all about to change, if a post from Xbox 360 fan site Unscripted 360 is correct. The Web site claims to have gotten a hold of "a partially torn document" that gives info an upcoming Achievements-for-Rewards program. According to the blog post, Microsoft has teamed up with some sponsors that would give a limited amount of real-world prizes for in-game goals. The program will be free, only require registration, and launch next month, according to the blog. As far as credibility, the owner of the blog, who goes by the name DeaconBlade 360, is an Xbox Ambassador and was awarded the Microsoft MVP Award for 2007 in the Xbox category. He also adds a bit of drama to the post, saying "I, along with a few others, are (sic) risking quite a bit bringing this explosive story to you!" Microsoft isn't saying much about the program, but did give a hint that they are at least thinking about it. "We have nothing to say about these rumors or speculation," a Microsoft representative told GameSpot. "However, what we can tell you is that Xbox is always exploring ideas for how we can reward our loyal customers. As soon as we have anything new to share, we will definitely let you know.” With the success of Achievement Points catching many off guard, it wouldn't be surprising if Microsoft was looking to cash in on them somehow, and a rewards program makes perfect sense. By signing on sponsors looking to tap the gamer demographic, Microsoft could find another easy source of income for little investment. The only question that remains is "What kind of shwag are we talking about for prizes?" Bogus or not bogus?: Sounds not bogus, but definitely not confirmed...yet. Chris |
That would be interesting if it would lead to things like Burger King sponsoring certain achievements in their games or an online casino giving you a free tshirt for getting a certain achievement in Texas Hold Em.
What would suck horribly imo would be if they gave prizes for certain plateaus of total points thereby rewarding the people who paid for someone to level them, downloaded saves to unlock achievements, or otherwise "cheated" to get to a certain level. Then again, maybe they could team up with a therapist who would help with anger management for anyone who beat that stupid silo mission in CoD2 on veteran. |
I always thought it would have been a good idea to offer some sort of reward system for achievement points.
