has anyone seen the 2007 game list over at IGN? Supposedly for Japan:

* Dairantou Smash Brothers X (Super Smash Bros. Brawl)
* Disaster: Day of Crisis
* Donkey Kong Taru Jet Race (DK Bongo Blast)
* Doubutsu no Mori [Animal Crossing]
* Forever Blue
* Hoshi no Kirby (Kirby Adventure)
* Mario Party 8
* Mario Strikers Charged
* Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
* Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
* Super Mario Galaxy
* Totsugeki Famicom Wars (Battalion Wars II)
* Wii Health Pack
* Wii Music

That is 14 first party titles in the next 9 months. :eek: Wow. Add to those, Paper Mario, Cooking Mama, and Wario Ware, which are already out there, and you have a killer lineup for this year.

Yeah, great list. I'm really hoping the new Nintendo IPs are solid. Project HAMMER seems neat.

steebo777 02-23-07 10:33 AM

The novelty has not worn off me one bit. I came home last night and cooked some dinner with some music streaming on the Wii Internet channel in the background. I sat down and popped on the vote channel then the news channel for some background reading. After that I checked the weather for the weekend then played a little pool on WiiPlay. After not doing so well at it, I decided a little Bonk's Adventure old school platform gaming was needed. I played for 20min or so then wanted some action RPG action with Zelda:ALTTP. An hour later a few buddies stopped by and we did some Wario Ware: SM multiplayer with some drinks in us and had some laughs. By the end of the night I was grinning ear to ear at the amount of value I got that night from the Wii.

And that lineup for this year is killer. Can't wait for Super Mario Galaxies and Metroid 3!!!

dick_grayson 02-23-07 10:44 AM

anyone get the new Sonic game? the reviews seem to say it's pretty decent.

I'm excited about that list, but where is Fire Emblem? I thought for sure that was a 2007 release here. Anyway, plenty of stuff I want this year on the Wii so no buyers remorse for me. Glad GameCube stuff like Paper Mario, Kirby and DK Bongo Blast are getting released on the Wii, but please Nintendo leave the Bongos as an option on the DK game.

Supermallet 02-23-07 10:46 AM

As I mentioned earlier, it's pretty darn cool.

steebo is definitely getting his money's worth. :lol:

Mine has mostly sat the past month. BUT not from a lack of things to do on it. My problem is the competition's lineup. I finished Viva Pinata, jumped back on the Wii for some Kid Icarus and a couple hours of Zelda, but then it was back to the 360 for Lost Planet & Crackdown, both of which I'm hooked on. I love Zelda, but I hate, HATE having to devote multiple hours at a time for it. All the other games I mentioned can be played in increments. That's why I'm still not even to the third dungeon yet. It's one thing to get caught up in a game like Viva or Crackdown and noticed 3 hours have ticked away(probably because you can dick around without any clear levels), but that isn't happening with Zelda. The dungeons are so involved I just want to do one and move on for the night.

I picked up Sonic last night, so I'll be giving that some time tonight.

I guess I'll give it a shot.....although I haven't seen it anywhere. I'm hoping the new SSX doesn't disappoint.

That list is for Japan from April until EOY 2007. Fire Emblem was released yesterday in Japan :D

The Wii has definitely changed how I interface with a game console too.

shumway 02-23-07 11:15 AM

The novelty of the Wii itself hasn't worn off on me, and, heck, I wouldn't call the Wii a novelty in my situation, just the Miis part. I hardly get to play though, because my kids always want to play and I don't generally get to play it after they go to bed.

That's at least 7 (Cooking Mama) must haves for me, and Wii Health Pack/Music, Kirby, and Mario Strikers are most likely haves.

Nice.

Neo-Geo & MSX to join Wii VC (in Japan)

From Joystiq.com:

Neo-Geo & MSX to join Wii VC (in Japan)

Neo-Geo and MSX are dusting off their parts and going for some of that virtual pape', joining the swarm of out-of-retirement consoles on Wii; the two will debut this spring in Japan (and likely worldwide shortly thereafter). Nintendo has already confirmed Eggy (Eggerland?) and Aleste (both 800 Wii Points) for MSX, but has yet to list any Neo-Geo titles. Additionally, more third parties want in on the Virtual Console enterprise, including G-Mode, Pony Canyon, Spike and (obviously) SNK.

Both new VC formats have the to potential to bring notable franchises to the download service, including Neo-Geo's Fatal Fury, Metal Slug, King Of Fighters, and Samurai Showdown; and MSX's Bomberman, Castlevania, Contra, Dragon Quest, Elite, Final Fantasy, Gradius, Metal Gear, Puyo Puyo, and Wizardry.

Paper Mario, Metroid, Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros are the only must buys on the list for me. But 4 must buys in 9 months or so on one console for me is damn impressive as I'm super picky with games. :thumbsup:

Some of the others may be purchases when they hit bargain prices.

darkside 02-23-07 12:20 PM

I doubt we see MSX titles in the US, but Neo Geo would be nice. I play a ton of Neo Geo games on GameTap and they are still a lot of fun.

I'm really hoping someone will assign a team simply to localize unreleased Japanese games for the US. I think Nintendo could make a fortune on the VC with this if they marketed it correctly.

This is good news. I've been waiting for the next new systems to be introduced to the VC.

I'm looking forward to C64 games (if that's still happening), but I hope the prices are a bit lower. I don't know if I'd pay $8 for too many games.

I would absolutely love this, especially for games like Fire Emblem and the unreleased SNES Dragon Quest games. I just don't hold up much hope that this will happen.

Michael Corvin 02-23-07 01:07 PM

Actraiser? Oh, hell yes. Day and date for me. Lode Runner might be worth checking out again.

I ran across a title I hadn't heard in ages I would love to check out again: Kid Nikki

What is with the dribble of N64 games? Where's Waverace damnit!

Also as if the reaming wasn't bad enough, looks like they upped the N64 pricing a couple bucks for Ocarina.

KurrptSenate 02-23-07 01:13 PM

i was a huge fan of act raiser

especially the first one. Damn i love that outworld music

Josh H 02-23-07 01:14 PM

Actraiser will be tempting. I played through about half of it on emulator a couple months ago. Still a great game.

I was a big fan of that game back in my NES days. I played the sequel on an emulator but I don't recall it being released in the US.
