Ebay idiots... Halo 3

Ebay
Yeah, you wouldn't want to walk into a Gamestop and have them push the pre-order on a game that doesn't come out for 10 more months! Get it from some schmuck on Ebay for more than you would pay retail!

CKMorpheus 01-22-07 01:59 AM

I don't get the deal with pre-ordering games and movies unless you get some sort of extra goodies with it. I've worked at two Best Buy's and both have had hundreds of copies of the big game releases (Halo 1 and 2, Madden, World of Warcraft: BC... etc) that took days to sell out. I really doubt Halo 3 will sell out. In fact, I will guarantee you could come in a week after it's released and find multiple copies sitting on shelves.

Looks like I have some auctions to list, brb...

Make sure to tell them that you "preffer paypal"!

Michael Corvin 01-22-07 08:30 AM

While you are at it you might want to list that *uber rare* Halo 3 Beta code w/free copy of Crackdown. That is easily worth a $120 BIN price.

mmconhea 01-22-07 08:40 AM

also, if you are going to pre-order it, then why from ebay and wait for them to ship... why not at the local game shop and have it that night.

Centurion 01-22-07 10:05 AM

I wish there was a feedback section so that I can tell the seller where he can put his copy of Halo 3.

maxfisher 01-22-07 11:10 AM

I reported him to ebay for having a fraudulent listing. I doubt they'll do anything, but it can't hurt.

Lastblade 01-22-07 12:23 PM

Winning Bidder has 0 feedback.... doubtful the seller would get his money.

PixyJunket 01-22-07 12:29 PM

Gamestop and their ilk are squarely to blame for crap like this. Every time I walk into one of their stores they insist that if I don't pre-order "X" game I will not be able to find it for weeks/months. One guy even told me last year that Nintendo purposely short-ships their games to create false-hype when I told him I wasn't going to pre-order Super Princess Peach. Yeah, that turned out to be a rare game. It depresses me that these stores are still in business.

GIjon213 01-22-07 12:29 PM

Naaa, this is nothing, just check back soon for the Halo 4 pre-order! I think there is a PS4 one, too....

Totally. In 20 odd years of gaming I've never once not been able to find a game I wanted.

Preorders are worthwhile with consoles at launch, but not for games unless you get some kind of preorder bonus.

KurrptSenate 01-22-07 12:41 PM

well, its not like you lose anything when you pre-order a game...

$5 or more of your money that you could spend on something else, have earning interest etc.

Not to mention having to put up with employees and customers in the game store TWICE. :D

KurrptSenate 01-22-07 12:47 PM

well, the interest on 5 bucks, over even 6 months is negligable.

if you were going to buy the game anyway, well, its not like you would be losing money

Josh H 01-22-07 12:56 PM

True, I just don't like handing over money for nothing.

The second point is the main one for me as I hate setting foot in game stores. I preordered my Wii just to be safe and use store credit from trade ins, but I hope to not set foot in a game store anytime soon (haven't since picking up the Wii on Nov. 19th).

KurrptSenate 01-22-07 01:00 PM

well, i can easily understand the hostility, or the want to not set foot in a game store, considering the negative situations i've been through. I have a friend who is a manager whom i started pre-ordering games from. If it weren't for that manager-friend, I'm sure I wouldn't pre-order games either.

I will say, from all the free sh!t i've gotten and re-sold, its easily worth it

PixyJunket 01-22-07 01:03 PM

I might actually pre-order Radio Allergy. I honestly think that one is going to need it.

KurrptSenate 01-22-07 01:03 PM

can't say I've heard of that before...

No, but if you take note of Best Buy, you are charged the full amount up front. So that $100 earmarked for the Legendary is better served in my bank account than Best Buy's.

KurrptSenate 01-22-07 01:50 PM

EB only charged me 25 for that pre-order (legendary bonus) I can, at any time, transfer that fund-age to any other game as I see fit.

JimmySRU 01-22-07 02:10 PM

scalping

KurrptSenate 01-22-07 02:18 PM

could you elaborate?

radicaldeth 01-22-07 02:54 PM

Wow, $25 for a pre-order? o.o I thought it was only $5 dollars. If anyone's worried about full MSRP, try Best Buy's price match. Doesn't apply to online prices or webstores though.

We bought GC Twilight Princess at BB then a few days later, Target had it for 39.99. So we brought the sales circular in and got a 110 % price difference.

KurrptSenate 01-22-07 02:56 PM

thats for the legendary bundle. They only charge 5 bucks for the normal pre-order, or for the metal case
