XBOX 360 & Wii Guidance please ... thanks in advance

I have researched this question and I think I know the answer but want to see if I can confirm it first.

We currently have an original XBOX (modded of course) and probably over 100 games (most original discs).

What I want to know is can the 360 play these?? (yes I have seen a list of 200 games from MS that are compatible via a patch but the games my sone plays are not in that list).

The ones he has that he plays all the time are Incredibles, Ice Age 2, TMNT, Karaoke (my daughter here), Bible game, Justice League Heroes, X-men final dimension. I know some suck but hey he is only 4!

I would hate to invest in a 360 if he can't play these.

"Wii-vice" please:

This system is by far the coolest one around IMHO and it would be nice to have. My question is mainly to those of you with kids. My son is 4 and pretty darn good at video games (he kicks the sh*t out of me in every fighting game there is .. OLD and NEW school) and I was wondering how well a 4 year can handle the Wii and what games are good for him that are out now. His favorite games are ANYTHING with Super Heroes (he loves Justice Leagu on the XBOX and my Marvel Alliance on my computer, the Incredibles Xbox we have is also in the running).

FYI we also have a MAME cabinet at home that he plays regularly and he has gotten pretty good at most of those games as well. We don't let him play anything bloody/gory. The cartoon violence type stuff is fine.

LMK what you guys think.

Thanks in advance!!

On the 360 BC question... no, if they are not on the backwards compatibility list, they will not work. The 360 will only boot games on the list.

The full list is here.

EDIT - I think there is one more BC update planned for this spring, but I believe that is scheduled to be the last update.

That's what I thought and yeah that's the list that I had seen as well. Bummer.

Thanks

if your regular xbox is modded, its probably not worth getting rid of in the first place. I ditched all my regular xbox game, and I haven't really looked back. Even the games that are playable that I still own for regular xbox, i never play anyway

Well my only reason for considering going all 360 is $$ and space.

A modded xbox is still worth a something these days + if I went 360 then I could get my gaming fix as well as pick up the HD-DVD add on and have HD-DVD in my office where the XBOX is (already have an HD-DVD player in the family room) and still have less $$ into it than a standalone HD-DVD player.

Space wise I have no room for multiple systems so one thing doing it all would be nice.

Unfortunately I have to be able to let my son play those games as he loves them.

Thanks for the info though!!

Actually he has the first lego SW for the xbox as well. He likes it (he loves anything SW) but he has a little trouble with that game.

Justice League, Marvel, Incredibles, etc. are all really easy for him and any fighting game he can whip a$$ on w/o trouble. Its actually embarrassing that I out of say 10 fights I am lucky if I beat him even once.

Tough call since a lot of the games he plays aren't backwards compatible.

I'd normally recommend the Wii for kids, but since they are happy with the X-box the 360 is reasonable as well I suppose.

Another problem is it is tough to find a Wii right now. They will be in Target, Best Buy and Circuit City this Sunday, but in very limited numbers so you'll have to show up at least 2 or 3 hours before opening.

I'd say just stick with the X-box for now until he gets tired of the games for it, then make a decision down the road.

I would go for the Wii60, and have.
