I agree with some of the posters above about the omission of R6 Vegas. I own both GOW and R6V, IMHO, R6V is the superior game, and I am by no means hating on GOW (which I believe does belong on the list). In terms of pure immersion and intensity, it's tough to beat R6V. (And don't even get me started on the incredible multiplayer.)

As for Prey, I wouldn't put it in my top 10 but it was a solid FPS that tried new things and I would put it over some of the other shooters mentioned because of that fact. It actually had a decent story, some unique weapons, portals, wall-walking, and the deathwalk to name a few things. The only down is that it was easy and it got redundant.
They didn't just slap some new weapons, textures & maps into a previous iteration of a series and push it out. That's not to say that GRAW or R6:V aren't good, they just didn't bring anything new to the table.

It's a fair list. I think some folks are really underestimating how much of an impact the Wii controller is having on the mainstream.
If I had one complaint, it would be that the DS is underrepresented. The DS absolutely owned the first 10 months of 2006. I'm also bored to tears with FPS games, but I get that they are popular.

I think Wii Sports is a lot of fun, but it doesn't hold up much past a few hours.
I think it's fair to say it's the best marketing tactic ever by a video game company (Everyone who comes over wants to play it), but it's by no means game of the year.
GoW, NSMB and Twilight Princess are the top 3 in any order IMO.

The computer AI is obviously weak, but multiplayer Wii Sports simply rocks. And there's a lot to be said for a game that you can actually get people in your house to play with you.

I've got to agree.. Wii Sports is a worthy #1, for Time magazine at least. Since I got my Wii, it's basically on from the moment someone else steps into my door until I'm kicking people out after they've forced me up way past my preferred bedtime. I think people are looking at it all wrong trying to gauge it as a solo-squishy experience.

I think the Japanese sales of Wii Sports reflects that MOST people view it as something other than a "demo"
You could say americans are biased, since they got it with their system.

I think its pretty obvious they just threw together a few AAA titles for all 3 consoles and a few other random ones just good for reason.
Halo 3 will be on next year's list even if its super crappy.

I have no problems with Wii Sports being #1. It gets the most play here too. Tha's hardly any reason to discredit the list.

You wii and 360 fanboys pissing over what should be on the list is funny.
You all have valid reasons and let's not forget that this list doesn't matter if you're happy with whatever your playing in your own home.

I agree with most of the list though. Well, not so much Table Tennis and Lego Star Wars 2.

Well, this list did cause me to go pick up Prey (360). It was only 20 bucks, but I don't think I would've picked it up if it hadn't made this list, and others hadn't commented about it here (I'm not really a huge FPS fan).
