Marvel Ultimate Alliance

I got this for Wii but it's hard with the motion action. Anyone good at this? I can't really do much so far. I guess over time I will get better. I do wish Wii let me choice to play with a control if I wished.
Don't get me wrong I am having fun with wii Sports and Tony Hawk (only other games we have so far) but for Marvel Ultimate Alliance the motion control seems very hard and I have to stand up the entire time.

I think you will get used to the controls after awhile. Just started playing with my son, in the beginning I noticed I just mashed the A button a lot. Started thinking, there's got to be a better way to play especially since its the Wii. Now I'm making an effort to use the Wii remote more as instructed...such as downward motions, upward, etc. Takes a while and I find I have to be thinking about the effort to do so as opposed to just pressing A. In time, I'm sure it'll be natural.

I've been stuck on Loki with the PS2 version.
Anyone have any cheat codes to get me thru it?
I tried the following cheat code listed on gamespot, but they didn't work for me...

Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Left, Down, Right Enter while in-game - God Mode

If one has multiple systems is there a good reason to get it for the WII? Doesn't seem like it since it is $20 more and looks about the same. I'm not sure if the Wii version has anything special on it.

Loki is pretty easy. I'm assuming you're talking about the 2nd time you face him? Just keep beating guys until you're in the last room, then beat down the giant statue until he fires his green beam, and then make sure the beam hits the thing in the middle of the room.

This is the end of act III when he keeps summoning dogs and giants.
I don't remember any giant statue firing a green beam.

The hulk isnt in this game is he? I've looked online and saw no mention of him. Will buy if he was in it. Probably due to licensing due to the Ultimate Destruction game.

You kidding me? Wii's MUA only good for cool/fun controlls. The graphic is nowhere near that of X360 and PS3 (if you use the HDMI connector that it). I, for one, will get it for PS3. While, i liked the cool tricks you can do with the Wii's controller, but i don't need to act like Spidy or Cap America to play the game.

Re: Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Recently, I bought a used copy of this bundled with Forza Motorsport 2 for the Xbox 360, learning after the fact of the existence of the Gold Edition/Platinum Hits Special Edition. I've only played M:UA a little, but thought it was a lot of fun. Before I really get going on it, though, I'd like to have all of the playable characters, especially since Magneto, Nightcrawler and the Hulk are three of my favorites.

I don't mind buying the game over again if I can find a cheap used copy, since I'd only be out a few bucks double dipping (my roommate and I split the cost since he wanted Forza; I suck at racing games so I don't play that one.)

I see that I can download the hero/villain packs that were added to the Gold Edition from Xbox Live for $10, er 800 points. If I go this route, will I also get access to the 12 new achievements offered on the GE?

Yes, they are character specific achievements for the DLC characters.

Re: Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Thanks! There was no mention of the achievements in the Xbox Live description. I'm going to have my friend who works at Gamestop check and see if she has the game in stock when she goes in tomorrow. If she doesn't, I'll go ahead and download the characters.

Nope. Only for the X-box.

Re: Marvel Ultimate Alliance

So I looped back around to this game, and boy does it drag towards the end. I'm at 22 hours playtime, which is ridiculous! Granted, a good 4 hours of that is picking what powers to level up, and pausing the game probably, but still. Now, I just want this to be over, but I've come to far to stop now. Asgard took FOREVER to get through. My team is strong enough now, that I'm going to try and avoid as much fighting as possible. Now more worrying about breaking barrels for money, nothing extraneous. Now, it is just a push to the goddamn end.

Re: Marvel Ultimate Alliance

FYI: All DLC characters are gone from both Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 on the LIVE Marketplace. Basically if you haven't purchased them before, your SOL, unless you track down a Gold Edition Copy of MUA 1.

Activision never explained it either, could be a rights issue, but they still make Spiderman games.

It's quite obviously a rights issue, especially since all the new MUA 2 stuff disappeared as well, and all this happened around the time the Disney takeover was finalized.

Re: Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Yeah, I was a little let down by that. I wanted to play through this with Hawkeye, but no such luck. The gold edition of the game goes for a nice bit of change now because of it.

Was there ever a MUA DLC? I only thought only MUA 2 got one and it was taken down on Dec 22.

Yeah, there was a four-pack of villains including Dr Doom and Venom for $6, a four pack of heroes including Hulk and Hawkeye for $6 or the entire eight-pack for $10. I got that one but dragged my feet on MUA2 DLC. Now I'm kinda bummed I missed out on it even though I'm not too crazy about MUA 2.

Was that only for X-box or did the PS3 had the DLC too?

By the way, what Activision did is complete bullshit and I don't think it has anything to do with rights to the characters.

Re: Marvel Ultimate Alliance

It sure would be nice if they could give people an advanced warning before removing content like this, and the Midway arcade games like Joust that were removed a few weeks ago. "Hey, everybody, just a head's up: This stuff's going away next Monday and will never be available ever again, so if you want it, better grab it while you still can."

Re: Marvel Ultimate Alliance

I might be crazy, but I think if they're going to take DLC away, they should just make it free for a week. You have seven days to get it before it's gone.

So I just finished this last night, and the encounter with doom was supper anti-climactic. Thankfully, he was really easy to fight since all you had to do was keep killing the enemies around him for unlimited health. After playing this for every bit of 24 hours, I have no intentions of playing MUA part 2. It looks better than this, but I've heard it wasn't all that great.

Yeah, if you didn't like MUA1, skip MUA2. I loved the original, but the second was a crushing disappointment. I tried replaying it to see the second story, but it was too boring and repetitive to even get a quarter of the way through.

Re: Marvel Ultimate Alliance

I didn't dislike it, I just wish it was a concentrated 12 (with the optional comic missions there to give extended gameplay), instead of the 25 to 30 I had to put in. But I mean, what should I expect from a dungeon crawler. Still, I believe the first X-men Legends game was the best of all of these games. The character selection might have been limited, but the freshness of the concept made it a cooler game for me.
