PS2: a rarity?

I went to three Targets today--and called several more--in search of a PS2. None of the stores had the console available. (I would have just stopped at another B&M, but I have a lot of money on Target gift cards.)

How often do stores like Target receive shipments of PS2s? I have a week left of winter break and would like to get one before the end of this week.

Thanks for any help.

Wow...I've seen plenty of them around. What area are you in? I would imagine they get a couple trucks per week but you can just call and ask them.

I guess it depends on location. At one of my Best Buys they had not one, but another one 20 miles away had a whole wall virtually built with them.

I was at a Target last night looking for Wii cables and there was a case full of the slim PS2s. I'd say at least 20 of them. Far more than any other console.

Do they scan serial numbers on them these days? If not, you could just buy it elsewhere and then pick up another one when Target gets it and return that one to the original place. A lot of leg work but I guess it depends on how bad you want it right now.

if it's not too far for you the Sony Outlet in the Aurora outlet mall had a boatload of them a few days before Christmas. They were refurbs so I don't know if that would matter to you at all. Would call first.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll just go to another B&M. I don't imagine I'll have too much of a problem finding the console---but damn my local Targets.

To make my wandering ironic, I stopped at a Target that had no PS2s but a bunch of Nintendo Wiis.

I've seen tons of them. Even the new silver colored slims.

I've seen tons of them. Still ridiculously priced at over $100.

I see tons of them as well, although I personally don't think they're overpriced. Considering the next step up is a Wii at twice the cost, it's not too bad. They still seem to be selling quite a bit too.

I saw a ton of them when trying to track down a Guitar Hero I bundle yesterday. PS2's everywhere, but had to hit 5 stores before finding a GH bundle. GHII was readily available though.

Agree they are around. 100 bones is still a decent price for a good machine though.

I did find a PS2. The Best Buy I stopped at had at least twenty. But to clarify (or reiterate), it wasn't that I was having trouble finding a PS2---I simply couldn't find a Target that had them in stock.
