Picked it up today. So far so good. I can't believe how they managed to feel exactly like the orginal game and and at the same time not. I'm glad I picked this up.

I've been playing this on GameTap. This is the first time I've played a Tomb Raider game, and I guess it's as good enough place as any to start. Just beat the

Tomb Raider: Anniversary hitting Xbox 360

Sweet. A 360 version. From joystiq

Eidos UK has officially announced Tomb Raider: Anniversary for the Xbox 360, confirming almost all of the theories originating from the ESRB listing we unearthed earlier this month. We say "almost," because one of said theories had the game being distributed via antiquated catapult. That's clearly and unfortunately not the case, as Anniversary will initially arrive on the Xbox 360 as a set of four downloadable episodes incorporated into Tomb Raider: Legend. The publisher notes that this marks the first occasion of a full game being serialized on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

As suggested in the earlier article, the episodes should be split across the various locales Lara Croft explores and inevitably desecrates in the Crystal Dynamics remake of the 1996 original. Lady Croft's manor will be offered as a free download, while the complete set of episodes will cost 2400 MS Points -- $30 and on par with the cost of the already released PC and PS2 versions.

Eidos promises to release Episode 1 and Episode 2 in September, with the final two episodes following "shortly afterwards." Those bemoaning the fact that they've since traded in Tomb Raider: Legend (understandable!) or never bothered to pick it up (unacceptable!) can wait for a retail version of Anniversary to be released on Xbox 360 "later in the year."
Good to see there is a retail version in the works. At this point, I'd never pay $30 for a digital distributed game.

Just finished it the night before last. A few bugs aside, I loved every minute I spent playing this game. I still have a few things to find (some relics and whatnot here and there) and the Manor to complete but I'm already antsy for TR8.

Good to hear, I figured this was going to happen. I will wait for the retail version. I never played more than a couple minutes of the original Tomb Raider, because I thought the controls were awful, but I liked Legend.

This month's Nintendo Power has a 4 page article on the Wii version. I must say after reading it, it definitely sounds very intriguing. They have redone all the puzzles for wiimote functionality, not just the general controls. Sounds very fun. That's a generic statement, but from reading the article my interest has gone up on this version to put it on par with the 360 version. Tough choice between the two. Reviews may be the deciding factor.

Although Legend is great, it's worlds apart from Anniversary. The former is an action game with some puzzle elements thrown in whereas the latter is a puzzle game with some action elements thrown in. Both are fun games but none too similar.

A Windows reinstall got this working for me and yes this game is very impressive. I doubt I will finish it because I have too much to play, but it is a solid game. Maybe one I wait to play fully on the Wii.

Looks like the 360 DLC fiasco is behind us. A retail release is on the schedule for 10/23 and is good for 1000 gamerpoints.

------------------------------------------
Tomb Raider: Anniversary [Xbox 360]
Release Date: Oct. 23rd
Amazon Pre-Order: $29.99 (free shipping)
The Achievement List

------------------------------------------
Tomb Raider: Anniversary [Wii]
Release Date: Nov. 13
Amazon Pre-Order $39.99 (free shipping)

They have both already been listed on Gamefly as well, if people go that route and want to drop it in their queue.

$10 more on the Wii? That's a first. I guess they figure people will pay for the waggle.

Well from the sounds of it, it isn't just a port, every puzzle has been redone. A bunch of development went into it, so it is probably justified.

There was a developers interview/video floating around a few weeks ago that showed just that... it's been pretty much completely revamped for the Wii -- with new puzzles, etc. The guy they interviewed said he'd consider it the definitive version (but not sure if thats just PR BS).

I had that problem. I switched to the default resolution and turned off shadows and that fixed the problem for me.

Alright, the Wii version came out this week and the only review I can find is IGN(a 7.0). Has anyone else heard anything on it?

Re: Tomb Raider Anniversary

And I thought LEGEND was difficult. Finished this up today. Clocked 10H 18M 08S. It's a step up from LEGEND's graphics and most importantly control but damn it needs a lot of patience to complete.

Played it on hard while getting all collectibles, while not dying on puzzles, not dying on bosses, not failing on CTE and not dying at all. So double the time stamped that consisted of many, many, many deaths and reload of checkpoints which made all this time consuming, frustrating at times and possible to accomplish.

On to THE UNDERWORLD.
