Anybody notice that R-Type is 800 points instead of the usual 600 for T16 games?

SMB is probably a given for me. Toss up between R-Type and Super Castlevania.

Whaaaaat? Smash Bros, Madden, Animal Crossing, and Final Fantasy aren't on people's radars? Did this suddenly become the book forum or something?

Have any of you tried out the Opera Browser yet? There are people at GAF already using it, but I think it's just in the UK right now, but I'm not sure.

I've since read that it was in Japan. We should have it here pretty soon. They say that it works fine, for what it is, but it should improve when the full version is released. I love that YouTube and sites like that are working just fine on it.

Here is a video of it in use:

Definitely on people's radar, but the problem is it's only on the radar of the same people that bought Gamecube's.

Those games aren't going to bring in the non-gamers Nintendo says they are after, nor any gamers that passed on the GC.

Even as a Nintendo fan, only Smash Bros interests me, and that only mildly since I don't play much multiplayer (though I'll change my tune on that if it has lag free online play).

I picked up Excite Truck on a whim tonight...and I had to play it for a bit before wrapping it up for the tree. Somebody said it was "ass" earlier, but I'm gonna have to beg to differ. The controls feel a bit wonky for the first few minutes, but once you get in control, the game is an absolute blast.

It's not polished enough to be truly worth $50, but it's definitely worth a purchase at some point...and since most all the Wii games are $50, I'd argue that it's worth a purchase now.

Has any recent console had a bunch of AAA games come out in the first year? I can't think of any that had more than 4 or 5 top-tier titles during their first year.

I'm not sure why people are expecting different from the Wii. If the DS is any indication, next year will be even bigger for the Wii.

Typing this on the wii takes time; but I thought everyone should know you can download the browser right now.

Second on Excite Truck. Awesome game. It took me a few races to get used to the control scheme, and now it is just second nature for me. Excite Truck isn't for someone who is looking for depth or amazing graphics. It is for someone who wants a fun, "pick up and play" racing game. The "star points" system is an awesome addition to, and everybody I show it too (non-gamers) loves it.

Another surprisingly good game, even though a little on the easy side, is Cars.

Just played with the browser for the last 15 minutes. Seems pretty cool even though the typing gets to be laborious... hopefully a wii-board will be in the near future (ooh... did I just coin a new term?).

Unfortunately, this is still very much a pre-release version... it crashed twice on me already... to the point that I needed to unplug the wii.

So far no crashes, but I can't seem to log in to DVD Talk.

dvdtalk works for me, I'm posting this message using the browser.

One other thing, that blue light the Wii emits has to go. I was sound asleep when it started flashing, I thought I was being abducted by aliens.

Hello my friends. Predictable typing makes this process smoother than a whale's vagina! (posted with Wii)

I played around with the browser briefly this morning before work...is there any way to increase the font size when in the regular display mode? My gaming TV is a 27" HDTV and the font looks tiny...the other display mode is kind of weird and zooming in all the time will probably get annoying.

It's great for browsing news and YouTube... anything where you don't need to type much. Zooming in while a page loads gives you more of a zoom... I ended up with a full-screen YouTube video box.

Hitting the (2) button is also great. It reformats the page into one column, then zooms in so the text is nice, big, and readable. Great for New York Times, for example.

Those are your choices. The display mode is "weird" because that's what happens when you increase the font size in badly designed pages.

As long as your wiimote and nunchuk don't mysteriously float and begin to probe you, you have nothing to worry about.

This morning was the first time I've ever seen my blue light on. I didn't feel like switching component cables to download the browser.
