If they implement a time limit on your actions, it could be good. But it is no real-time fun with yelling and running and begging and laughing.

Hell yes! We can't wait for that one.

While it's not an RPG, my friends and I are praying to any and all deities that a DS version of Zelda: Four Swords is made. I know it was mentioned at some point but then retracted (sort of like the 2D Metroid Dread). The Gamecube Four Swords was the best multi-player game I've ever played and might have been the best gaming experience I've ever had, period.

Four Swords DS would be a blast. Do you envision it linking with the Wii or just using the top DS screen as the shared environment?

Either way, it REQUIRES online play since people like me don't get together with friends that often.

Although it got mediocre reviews, my friends and I love the first one...just wish they didn't have the stupid cup to carry around. The way they made spells based off timing was well done. The first time we pulled off Holy was a great moment in gaming.

I just figured it would play like the original GBA game in that everyone just had their own screen.. but it would be a more fully-fleshed out adventure like the Gamecube game. I suppose a Wii-link could work but so many people bitched and moaned and whined about the Cube/GBA thing that I don't know if they'd go that route again.

Maybe, but they've already got rid of the stupid link cable (x4) so that should help.

People would still cry about it, that's what the internet is for, apparently.

Hell yes! I only knew a handful of people with GBAs, and most of them wouldn't have been playing any sort of FF game or hanging out at my house for hours enough to play a real multiplayer game. The only thing I used GBA connectivity for was Pac Man Vs - that only required one GBA. (Another wanted game for the Wii).

I'd love a multiplayer action RPG for the Wii, or one with online co-op for the 360. Hell all I really want is Secret of Mana on the VC.

Gut reaction is "Boo!" but if that makes the single-player better, then I'm all for it. Highly unlikely I'll have 1-3 other people locally to play with ever so online was going to be my only way.

Why boo? Do you really think a turn based RPG will work well online?

I can't possibly know now, can I? It would at least be a new spin on it and something I would actually play online more than Tetris, Clubhouse, or Mario Kart. At the end of the day, if it didn't work, I wouldn't use it, but at least the option would be there.

Holy shit, has it really been over a year since we had anything to talk about? Here's a rumor and, if true, this could potentially mean up to 4 main series releases in the US with a year - maybe 18 months.

Wow. Talk about a dead thread. Anyway, maybe this'll breathe some life into it. Direct-feed TGS trailer:

Re: Dragon Quest IX - DS EXCLUSIVE!

Got Dragon Quest IX, on release date yesterday in Japan. People so far have complained about having only 1 save per game, so you can't have multiple saves.

Game is pretty nice so far, some changes include being able to see monsters on the screen while walking, customizing the main characters looks, use of the touchpen if you want, animated scenes, full contact battle (ala VIII), and WiFi options which I haven't tried yet.

Re: Dragon Quest IX - DS EXCLUSIVE!

Yeah the one save thing is kind of insane.

I'm still a long way off finishing DQV so I don't have to worry about this one for a while.

Better than VIII? Sorry, but there is no way this game on DS could surpass the masterpiece that was VIII. When it comes to Famitsu you can never trust them on Square/Enix titles. I believe this game will be very good and can't wait, but Famitsu is untrustworthy when it comes to Square. They gave Infinite Undiscovery 34 and that game is nearly unplayable it is so bad.

Wow. Was it the same crew that rated FFVII: Dirge of Cerebus though?

Re: Dragon Quest IX - DS EXCLUSIVE!

"Dragon Quest blew every other software out of the water on its first week in Japan with 2,319,000 copies sold."

This was for 2 days of sales.
