Can Halo & Halo 2 be played on X-Box 360?

I bought my son an X-Box 360 for Christmas and he wants the Halo games. Will these regular x-box games even work on the 360?

Yes. Here is a list of all backward compatible games:

Backward compatible game list

Note: You need a hard drive to play regular Xbox games. You will also need to download a patch from either that site I showed you or directly from Xbox Live. I think Halo 1 and 2 work without the patch, but no other game will.

Thank you very much! This is very useful so I bookmarked it. Where are the best places to get the hard drive accessory?

Did you buy the premium or the core Xbox 360? The premium comes with a hard drive, but the core does not. You can buy a hard drive at any place that sells video games. Wal-mart, K-mart, Best Buy, Circuit City, Gamestop, etc.

Silly me! I bought the Premium and the box says it includes the hard drive. I guess we're ready for the 25th! Thank you again!

Just make sure that you have your 360 hooked up to the internet, as they won't play without downloading the patches first.

Speaking of Halo it's been a long, long time with several here playing online and maybe it's time for a small reunion of sorts for those custom matches we had a blast with. Hmmmmm......Martin, Beandip, TJMental, TurdFerguson64, etc...

Actually you can download the patch on a computer and burn it to a disk and then feed it to your xbox360 to update it--no internet connection necessary.

Hey TF64

I thought you already "had" the 360? Well if not then congrads all the way! You know we all need to get together again on the infamous custom matches. It's been so long I cannot even remember the names. My favorite was the one with pistols only and you were able to smack the other one with it. If you had eight or more it looked like WWF Royal Rumble. I've never laughed so hard at a game.

Simply take any recordable DVD or CD:
1) Place the recordable medium inside your microwave;
2) Press "3", "6", and "0";
3) Press "Start".

Remove the medium and you now have all the latest updates for your Xbox 360 conveniently on one disc.

Warning!! Do not place the Xbox 360 console inside your microwave. There have been reports that this might cause an increase of temperature inside the cool-running, well ventilated hardware components.

Exodus Prime has been known to type before he thinks from time to time.

Halo will only display 4:3 on a widescreen TV. Halo 2 will display 16:9 though.

That would be Fight Club.

If anyone would know, it would be the one and only Martin. You have to admit it was a hoot! along with King of the Hill.
