Now onto this deal: what bothers me is that even if you have everything 'right', it was still a lottery to get in on this deal or not. I think that being closer to the location of Amazon's webservers, made the difference. I would LOVE to see the geographical location and ISP of everyone who got in.
And for me? I didn't want to purchase on to sell it on eBay. I wanted to put it my in-laws home, so I don't have to drag my XBOX back and forth (which will eventually break it). Guess I have to wait until the 2nd Gen will be released next year (runs cooler due to newer chips, most likely a 100GB HD and probably HDMI).

Yes you are right, I was hitting F5 to refresh and then BAM guess what my connection timed out. Me saying oh F**KING great did a tracert and found that at the gateway in Chicago is where my connection went to shit, I’m in northern Indiana. I’m betting either coast had better luck getting through, but it still pisses me off that somewhere some jackass who can't take care of a network or more likely their company is too damn cheap to put in a larger pipe (AT&T cough) screwed us.

I have been emailing back and forth with Amazon, complaining about this deal and after 4 emails I finally recieved a decent apology (the first 3 were the usual bla bla copy'n'paste replies):
Greetings from Amazon.com.
I am truly sorry for the frustration and inconvenience you incurred
on Thanksgiving day due to our XBox promotion. We can see that you
have been a very loyal customer and hope you will continue to be.
As this was our first endeavor to attempt this type of promotion we
did not fully expect the overwhelming response we received.
We value our customers' trust above all else--it is the foundation
upon which Amazon.com was built. Please know that this situation was
the result of a combination of technical and human errors, and that
in no way did we intend for this to happen.
I hope that you will continue to consider Amazon.com for your future
online shopping needs.
Please let us know if this e-mail resolved your question:

I do feel bad for the people who got through, or thought they did, only to be charged full price. That has to suck.

You'd think they'd just suck it up and give it to you for the correct price.
If I were you, I'd demand it...isn't it false advertisement/illegal, otherwise?

abrg: I really can't (& don't) expect that...
I mean, as it was, Treesa and I demanded (in so many words) to cancel that order and break free just minutes (literally) after placing it (so our money wouldn't be just tied up with them for nothing), and they under no conditions would not do it. It's not like they could not do it, they simply would not do it. (It's common knowledge that every system has an 'override', as I posted earlier. Not to mention they had 4 days to stop it before it actually left their facility, but repeatedly insisted they somehow couldn't.) Fat chance in Hell they'd just give me anything.
They did nothing to make it right. They did absolutely nothing to help us. We just wanted to cancel for Pete's sake. They wouldn't even give us a credit (to possibly buy something else we may have actually wanted at that $300 price. I mean, I could have bought a better-deal Xbox bundle at Costco for that much, or maybe even less.). With a business that damn big and service that terribly bad, it leads me to conclude (contrary to popular belief):
1. They don't need me (and from this experience, I feel safe to say): 2. They don't need you, either.
Heck, I can remember the days of 'Customer Service' (way back when), when 'Keeping the Customer Satisfied' actually meant something. Today it's like, 'To Hell with the customer', because they know damn well if you or I don't shop with them, 1,000,000 other people will, regardless of their treatment of me (or you for that matter), and fully understanding that matter of fact, they'll just go on their merry way like nothing ever happened with business as usual.
(Sorry about the rant, ya'll. )
Gb: Glad to be of service! &
TEK!
