Well, I dont know how I got so lucky today but... We were supposed to get up early today to go to the Nintendo Store just to look and see, but needless to say didnt get up until late and then went to workout. When we finally got there they were obviously sold out, but the manager said that the Toys r Us in Times Square had them. The wife and I headed over there as did 2 other families. It was mass hysteria. So we were just wandering around aimlessly in the video game section with my wife yelling at me about coming here like idiots. The some guy said to us, "are you guys looking for a Wii?" He had been in the store for 2 hours shopping and picked it up and had it in his bag. He said his kid was being a brat and he didnt feel like standing in line so he wasnt going to buy it and said that it was ours if we wanted it. Right place, right time. Best part about it was one of the familes from the Nintendo store was right in front of us in-line buying some other stuff.
I dont know how many NYC'ers are looking for a Wii, but they said they get pretty regular shipments there and when we bought ours, they said the sold out 20 mins ago on them but that was at around 1:30pm. You just have to put up with the sheer torture of going to Toys r Us in Times Square, which might be alot worse than paying a premium on Ebay . The Nintendo store at Rockafeller Center was getting a shipment tommorrow at 10:00am.

Nintendo Store?? COOL!!
Anyway, I work for Coke and was looking at the Weekly Ad that comes out, I guess Sunday. They have the Wii listed for $249 and it says Walmart will have it on 12/6
Not sure how many but at launch the local walmarts got about 30.

It had numbers (that were accurate some places and very off others) for launch. Doesn't look like it's being done now.
I think it was just estimates anyway.

Is this a rumor about Best Buy and places or do we know for sure? I hate to wait a day looking at the wrong place. I asked the dept. manager at Walmart and she said they had no idea when more Wii's would come. (again they have an ad now that says 12/6)

How many systems do YOU think are enough to launch? How long do you think it will take to manufacture that many? How about the expense of warehousing those number of units for the duration of the manufacturing phase? How much stock space do you think places like Best Buy, Walmart, etc. have to house 100's of units for launch?
Have you given any thought to it beyond, "Everyone who wants one should be able to walk in and buy one on launch day"?
Yeah, won't anyone think of the children?!

Answer what questions? You chose to dig at me first. I decided to not waste my time reading all of your drivel when you decided to become a sarcastic ass towards me. Surprising how that works isn't it?

A simple sandwich board with "Wii in stock" on one side, "Wii sold out" on the other would make things a lot easier for everyone involved.
update: ok, sounds like it is confirmed. Sorry for the confusion.

Of course the employees seem to be bothered by having to repeatedly answer the question. That's the price they have to pay for not wanting to make it easy for customers to know.

Best Buy having them tomorrow isn't a rumor, and has been confirmed for most markets (It's still possible some zip codes won't offer them, but it is a guarantee printed in their ad for tomorrow in all the markets I've seen...which is about 5 heh)
That said, it's only 8193 Wiis on ebay now (Well, closer to 8000, but still a shitload).

Of the auctions that I've examined, it doesn't seem like they are obscenely higher over retail.

Oh I agree, it is a small percentage comparatively speaking.
I'm just going off the number represented off of :
http://listings.ebay.com/_W0QQsocmdZ...6670&alist=a14
Minus the "Look how I got this!!" auctions. I'm sure it's a little lower yet, but seems to be a good baseline .

Heading out to Best Buy now, just to see if anyone's lined up...when they'd advertised the second wave of 360s, there were people lined up at 4PM the day before. I'll report back in a few.

I've checked around, and it looks like Toys R Us (most of them) are actually keeping a steady flow of Wiis coming in, and your best bet of walking into a store and getting on is there.
