Make sure your Mii is set to Mingle as well. To check, click and drag your Mii to 'Edit your Mii,' click the last tab on the left, and check off Mingle.

Yep to the first, no to the second. That's why most of us keep posting when we've added people so they know.

You can tell whether someone you've added has added you as their name will no longer be grayed out in your address book once they've added you.
