Problems With Xbox Hd Dvd Player
The enclosed King Kong disc plays fine. However, I tried 4 other discs (3 being new Warner Music HD DVD releases and 1 being the HD DVD version of "Pirates") and here are the results:
1. The Warner Music titles get to the main menu, I hear two "click" sounds and then the disc freezes up. 2. The XBOX 360 HD DVD does not recognize the "Pirates" disc (Digital Playground release) as an HD DVD. Any one experiencing the same problems? Is it the machine or the discs? |
The Pirates disc is a WM-HD DVD. Not a true HD DVD... Designed to pay on a computer not a standard HD DVD player.

I guarantee you will get more feedback if this thread were in the HD Talk subsection of this forum.

The only problem with mine is that EBGames hasn't shipped it yet. :mad2:
I agree that'd you'll have been luck asking in the HD Forum than here. |
Doesn't sound like the same problem as mine, but mine was definitely broken. It would play any disc for about 5 minutes then it would have trouble reading the disc and would default back to the 360 menu.

What are the Warner discs?
|
Yes, you need real HD-DVD disc, not those PC Windows HD version... Same thing with like T2, they wont play... Buy real HD-DVDs
|
The Warner Music discs are REAL HD-DVD :
Cream - Royal Albert Hall London Eagles - Farewell Tour Live From Melbourne James Taylor - Music Cares Person Of The Year Thanks for the info about PC Windows HD. |

That's so lame. I never even heard that there were two different versions of HD-DVD. This is not going to go over well with consumers who buy an HD-DVD and want it to just work. As for MS and the Xbox360 HD-DVD player, there is no reason they can't make them work on the 360. |
Yeah, you would think Microsoft's Windows HD would be compatible with their XBOX 360 HD DVD.
I'm still stumped on the 3 Warner Music titles that do not play. |

That said, you should be able to play those WMV files on the Media Player on the Xbox 360 console, or can you not play them off a DVD? Additionally, does the HD-DVD Player not play regular DVDs? I know it's kind of a pointless feature since your regular system has a DVD Player built in, but it'd be good to know. |

Ah,I see. Well then I am ok with this and MS now had permission to continue selling the HD-DVD drive for the 360. :)
|
So does the Pirates disc have WMV files that can be played from the 360?
|
Mine works totally fine. I due have the "clicks" issue though.
