Just called my local EB Games and they say they won't have it until tomorrow morning. :(

RichC2 11-07-06 10:16 AM

Yeah, EB is actually pretty bad about getting stuff on time like that  I had credit, so I had to go with them, otherwise I would have gotten a shirt w/ a Best Buy pre-order.

skiblet 11-07-06 10:49 AM

I just got home from trying Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, and comp freakin USA and it was nowhere to be found!!! I went to four places, and no game.

Now im not even buying the goddamn thing, how do you like that microsoft? Ok, im kidding, i will go back out possibly later today and/or tomorrow to look.

PixyJunket 11-07-06 10:53 AM

Chain stores aren't getting it until next week, if you want it now you have to go to EB/Gamestop.

DamingR 11-07-06 10:54 AM

The game shipped yesterday. Today isn't the release date. It isn't late yet.

I read the same thing but it's in this week's ad for Best Buy saying it will be in stores tomorrow.

Save Ferris 11-07-06 10:58 AM

Xbox.com says 11/7 IS the release date. Shouldnt that be binding?

actually they dont have it either, at least not in my area. i called every game store in the phone book.

DamingR 11-07-06 11:10 AM

11/7 is the first day you can buy it. Video games are not CDs or DVDs, they do not have a release date. They have a ship date, which is the day they ship the game out. EB and Gamestop usually pay for overnight shipping, so they get the game the next day (today in this instance). Target, Wal-Mart and the like do not pay for overnight shipping, so they get it when they get it, usually Weds or Thursday. Blockbuster has all their copies sent to a distribution center and then set to stores and they don't usually get games until Wednesday, and then only if you pre-ordered it at least 2 weeks in advance.

So no, there is no binding release date on video games. Exceptions are occasionally made for games like Halo 2, which most stores had sitting in their stock rooms the Friday before the game came out on a Tuesday.

mr.snowmizer 11-07-06 11:13 AM

It's not next week. Any store you normally associate with potential videogame purchases (the Best Buys, Circuit Cities, Fry's, etc of the world) should be Wednesday.

By Sunday (Emergence Day), everybody will be guaranteed to have received them.

RichC2 11-07-06 11:30 AM

Yeah, EB here gets it tomorrow, so does Best Buy and Circuit City. Walmart will probably have it tomorrow as well (here at least). Dunno where the "next week" thing came from.

Flay 11-07-06 11:45 AM

My order just started processing at Ebgames.com. Should be at my doorstep tomorrow.

I've got WAY too much to play in the meantime to worry about it.

discostu1337 11-07-06 11:54 AM

Our people are driving to LA so the SO Cal EBGames/Gamestop market gets it tonight :)

Instead of driving across town why not just call and ask? :hscratch:

Michael Corvin 11-07-06 12:15 PM

Picked it up at EB a lunch. Man they are pushing Halo 3. Ridiculous. How it went down(after trying to sell me the strategy guide of course).

EB: Would you like to preorder Halo 3?
Me: No thanks
EB: Are you sure? It's going to be the hottest game of next year.
Me: Nope.
EB: Pre-orders are going quick, not sure how long we will take them.
Me: I'd rather earn intrest on my money for a year than letting your company earn the interest. Thanks.
EB: stunned silence... :(

Next guy in line. Same spiel. Guy after that, same thing. It was quite comical. The guy was acting like Halo 3 is getting a limited print run and his store is the only one that is going to be getting it. Nevermind the fact that there will probably be 2 million copies on store shelves the day of release.

Have you ever called to ask if something is in stock, and the employee says yes, then you drive there 10 minutes later, and there aren't any at all? That has happened to me quite a few times. The person on the phone is usually as dependable as a retarded monkey.

MC, did they have CoD3 too? DId you have it pre-ordered or what is just available?

Save Ferris 11-07-06 12:35 PM

it looks like GoW got here before COD3 :\

Michael Corvin 11-07-06 12:35 PM

One of the few times I had something pre-ordered(trade-in credit), BUT two of my friends did not and they both bought copies.

They did not have COD3 as one of my friends wanted that as well.

tbird2340 11-07-06 12:41 PM

AH SNAP :(

Thanks for the info! Have fun w/ Gears!

RichC2 11-07-06 12:57 PM

Haha the game got a moderate review - an 8 out of 10 (reviewing the single player game only, as their copy wasn't online enabled or something) - and that brought the score down from a 95 to an 86. Now I remember why I hated school, you could get 2 100%s, 5 95%s, a few 90%s, and have it all brought down by one 80%. Their complaints? The game wasn't jaw droppingly revolutionary and they find it hard to relate to beefy soldiers.

I just went to the mall to return my tux from a wedding I attended this weekend so I decided to stop into Gamestop for the hell of it. To my suprise, they had non-preorder copies for sale. Can't wait to get out of work and try this out.

Mok 11-07-06 01:34 PM

Just picked up my copy at eb games, it was a riot in there. It looked like a daycare center, tons of kids screaming at there moms and dads.

Deftones 11-07-06 01:38 PM

Nobody seems to have it yet. I need to call my EB where I preordered it, but sounds like I'll have to wait until tomorrow.
