**OFFICIAL** Ebay rules for Selling PS3s and Wiis
I know a bunch are planning on selling and I didn't think cluttering up each thread (PS3 & Wii) was a good idea, so a new thread would be best. I think there was an ebay PS3 thread a couple weeks back but I can't seem to find it. If this isn't needed, mods will be mods, shut it down or merge.

At any rate: per ebay

Here are two listing policy clarifications that we are implementing effective immediately:
Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii Pre-Sales. These highly-anticipated video game consoles will be in extremely short supply during their initial launch. During the launch of the similarly-released Microsoft Xbox 360, we saw a high number of well-intentioned sellers unable to meet their pre-sale obligations to buyers due to restricted supply, as well as an increase in fraudulent listings for these items. To prevent similar problems with these latest releases, the following restrictions have been placed on pre-sales for the PS3 and the Wii:
* Only one of each console can be listed per eBay account prior to the launch of the console (PS3 is expected to be available on 11/17/06, Wii on 11/19/06).
* The seller must only accept payment through PayPal, and have at least 50 feedback with a 98% or greater positive rating so that they qualify for PayPal Buyer Protection.
* The pre-sale item must be listed in the 3, 5, 7 or 10-day formats, and cannot use Buy It Now.
* The listing must include a photo of your pre-order receipt in the description.
-----------
So ebay is taking steps to protect the buyer, now where are the steps to help protect the seller from a non-paying bidder?

I just had a good laugh on ebay...I saw one PS3 Pre-order that was ending shortly and the bid was over $1800 and the high bidder had a feedback rating of -1. Think that seller will get paid? I can't believe Ebay is allowing people to sell something they MAY or MAY NOT have on launch day. I don't care if they show they receipts they still might not get one correct? That is just plain crazy in my opinion. You pay $1500 to a seller who has nothing in hand right now? I think I will pass...Another great Ebay idea!

Why do you care if someone wants to pay $1500 for a PS3? The seller went out early, possibly skipping work to do so, stood in line and got a preorder. It is worth it for some to not go to that trouble. It is also worth it to some parents for their spoiled kids. Is it worth paying double? Not to me, and obviously not to you, but apparently it is for some out there with the income, so who are you to judge?

So what are the percentages of you actually receiving your pre-order? What happens when the store does not have enough stock to cover the pre-order? Do they refund you the money or are you on the wait list for the next batch? I keep thinking about pre-ordering 2 PS3's thru TRU and throwing 1 up on eBay.

crap, I have 100% positive feedback and paypal protection, but I'm at 20.
Does ebay say how long they're going to be doing this? Until Launch day??
also is there a quick way to get positive feedback? I was thinking of just buying like 30 smallthings.

Personally, if it were me selling a pre-ordered PS3, I would def wait until I had it in my hands.. I mean, you are going to get it on release day anyways.. Just do a 3 day auction (since they aren't allowing 1 day) and offer FREE OVERNIGHT DELIVERY.
L&O... Hmm.. 95/5.. So, that would net me about what.. $15? Thanks man.. That'll be just enough to cover the fees!

Good point.. Didn't think of that.. I wouldn't chance you not getting it though, know what I mean?

Could mess up some people who wanted to sell the preorder ahead of time to have cash to pay off the preorder I suppose. But not a big deal for anyone that has a credit card.
They should put the same feedback restriction on bidders as well though to protect the sellers (and this is coming from someone that hates when people buy shit just to flip on eBay).
