Microtransations - "Next-Gen" gaming at its best!

Some people buy games like Carbon or Tiger just to play casually. They don't have the time or interest to sit and unlock everything. Sad that EA sees those people as ripe for fleecing. This is not adding value to a game and there is a reason they gave out codes for 10 years. The developers want to make sure that users get to see more of the stuff hidden away in the game.
By hiding that stuff away and keeping people from accessing it by charging them an extra $50 they are just going to guarantee that most of these casual people have a mediocre experience and skip the next Need for Speed that comes out. Either that or they will spend so much on the game that they won't want to upgrade to next years version since they spent so much on the current one.
Basically, I see this greed having a two fold effect of lower sales for EA in the future. Add in people like me completely boycotting EA because of it and I think in the long run this crap may catch up to them.

i can't believe they have a comic for that already. I'd say if it pisses enough people off, it might change, but I still see those idiots buying crap that is trivial, which perpetuates it even more

Yeah, when you buy Superman Returns, the character model provided only has a blank blue and red suit. You have to buy the S insignia and the cape from the marketplace for $5 each.

Don't forget that he is only Mr. Kent, you must buy his powers for $5-10 each, and don't get me started on flying....
Edit:
The demo was fun but way too easy. For some reason it reminded me a lot of GTA only in tights.... Anyway, I'll rent this one, mabey....

I actually enjoyed the Superman demo. My only problem is that EA is the publisher, so I have to wonder what the final product will look like, and how they plan on ripping off the consumer this time. If I do buy the game, I will buy it used.
