I'll preorder a PS3, but I'm not camping, and I won't kill myself if I don't get one release day (which is probably doubtful).
|
I plan to stay home and play Gears of War until I pass out.
I will get a PS3 in 2010 when the improved "slim" version comes out for $200. I wonder how many of the 400,000 launch consoles will end up on ebay. It would be pretty funny to go on there and see 100,000 new PS3 auctions the day after launch. |
As shifty as it is, I was thinking about getting an PS3 to flip on ebay and using the profit to buy a 360...but decided against it. I know, just know, the first batch will go for almost 1300, but I'm too lazy to camp out and fight for one.
Good luck to all that plan on it. |

I'm sure a lot of people are waiting just to turn a profit.....almost worth it if these sell for $1000+ on Ebay |
I went to our 24-hour Wal Mart at 11:55 pm to pick up the PSP when it came out, but the only waiting consisted of finding a guy to open the box of PSPs. There wasn't a line so much as a small gathering area. And I only went at midnight launch because I was still awake and Wal-Mart is a 90 second drive from my apartment... easier than going on my lunch break the next day.
|
And I'm actually kind of scared to pick up a PS3 at midnight. In our town a kid was robbed of his 360 right after leaving the store on midnight on launch day. And we're a pretty low crime town.

1. I don't have the time to wait in line this semester. 2. I just hate the whole ebay hoarding thing. Both the people williing to pay $1000s for a console and those that hoard them up to sell to these folks. Just makes it that much harder for the real gamers that just want to buy one to play themselves. Of course the ultimate fault is with the lame console companies launching without enough stock to remotely satisfy demand... |
For the 360 launch I was at Target before they closed, and I wound up being the 2nd to last person to get a premium system. I get the feeling the Wii won't be too bad to get a hold of but I'll be camping for it anyway. PS3 is probably gonna be a bitch but I'm not gonna pick one up.

one of my friends said he hates the ebay hoarders so much he's going to create like 20 ebay accounts and falsely bid on every PS3 he can the day after launch. I don't think thats cool but to each their own. |

I have a Wii pre-ordered at Toys 'R Us, and I plan to go there at about 4-5am. I think I'm ninth on the list, and I heard that they just recently closed the pre-orders.

They would have to pry the PS3 from my cold dead hands.
or survive the surprisingly girlish piercing scream that would come out of my mouth while I was running. |

You would probably get the highest price during mid-to-late December when everyone is doing their frantic last minute holiday shopping. |

Same here. The lack of a bundled second Wiimote is sending me to Sam's to hopefully have one included at a reasonable cost. That and because, while my buddies camped out for 10 hours at BB for a 360, I went to Sam's 90 minutes before they opened and walked out with one. Was home and back in bed before my friends had even bought theirs at BB. Should note that I am a business member. Business members get to shop two hours before regular members. Actually PS3 fans might want to take note since it will be a similar launch. Only downside is a forced bundle, but at least Sam's bundle's save you money. And of course they don't take credit cards - cash, check or debit only which will probably turn a lot of people off from going this route with a rough $700 estimated cost. Lastly, they restricted the 360's to 1 per membership. So you couldn't come with a friend who is a non-member and get two. And all this reminds me, I need to renew my membership. |

7am and the consoles went on sale at 12:01am that night. He was there for about 17 hours waiting and was number 6 in line. |
The closest I get to camping out for a Wii is waking up early on Sunday and driving to Circuit City and Best Buy minutes before they open. The good thing is CC opens an hour earlier on Sunday than BB. If I don't get one at either place, then I won't get one on launch day.
For the PS3, no way I'm even searching for that. It should be even harder to find than the 360 last year. and....I won't have $500 to get it on launch day. Hopefully I can get one before Spring '07. I was able to get a 360 2 months after launch date. |
