What is your most anticipated VC title?

Prices aside(check the debate at the door), what single game are you most excited about revisiting on the Virtual Console? What are you wanting, stuff you haven't played in years, or games you already have a copy of that just sit in a closet?

I'm anxious to revisit these titles that I had a ton of fun with back in the day:

NES - Kid Icarus (I'm ready to hit this again in anticipation of a revival)
SNES - Actraiser (probably THE best [non Star Wars] soundtrack in a game prior to Halo, IMO)
N64 - Iggy's Wreckin' Balls (underappreciated mp game)

Wishlist Game: N64 - Blast Corps. I know, never gonna happen, that's why it is here.

I'm sure Nintendo is going to look at sales numbers and decide which franchises may be revisited. The VC is a great way to gauge interest. Hopefully everyone picks up Kid Icarus.

Kid Icarus is a must. I'm hoping they come out with Mario Paint, even though it's been said a Wii version is in the works. I don't really know what else I'd want. I'd probably get all of the Mario and Zelda titles, just because.

I'm looking forward to the new VC games. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a surprise hit for the VC launch, a la Geometry Wars. Nintendo, surprise us with a new classic Mario!

Why wouldn't Blastcorps ever happen? That's one of my top anticipated games.

Otherwise...Mario 64, Maniac Mansion, and River City Ransom.

Rare owns the rights to Blast Corps. - MS owns Rare.

MS hasn't exactly taken a "We hate Nintendo stance!" In fact, they have taken a "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" stance, so MS may allow Nintendo to license old Rare games, especially since it means more money for MS.

I mean, they allow VC-1 on Blu-ray, so Blast Corps on the Wii wouldn't be much of a stretch.

I'd also love to see Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball, but somehow I don't think that's happening.

Well, until it shows up on XBLA, I'm going to consider it very unlikly. I doubt they would sell it on Nintendo's Marketplace before they would their own. I thought I read a while back that Rare had no intentions of putting old properties on XBLA as well.

The games on XBLA usually have some kind of "upgrade" to them. The VC games will not. So it would be much easier (read: more net profit) to put it on the Wii.

And you're going for different markets with the Wii. I think most people who have both the Wii and the 360 will predominantly purchase downloads on one system or the other, so it maximizes their profit potential to have it on both.

The funny thing about this thread is that I was going to suggest Wonder Boy in Monster Land.. even though it was an arcade game (the Master System version sucked). But since they've only announced specific console support I was going to suggest the Monster World games for the Turbo Grafx and Genesis.. then, well, I saw news of the PS2 Complete Collection, which will be under $30 to import and I forgot about this thread.

For me, VC usage is going to depend on its presentation. Especially for the NES games, I'd like them to be presented in their original pixel aspect without any sort of ugly filtering or blurring. Otherwise I'll just stick to my NES, whose video is about as ugly through RF as it would be with filtering through component.

Streets of Rage 2+3, Phantasy Star 4 for Genesis. OoT, Mariokart 64, and Blastcorps for n64 (first two already announced right). Actraiser and Chronotrigger for Snes.

Chris_D, since you're in Japan.. the Sonic Collection 2 (I think) has all three Bare Knuckle (Streets of Rage) games on it. They were taken out of the US version to keep an E rating, which is kind of funny since all the 3D Sonic games have a T rating.. but what can you do?

Hmm I'd have to fork out for a local ps2 which I don't think I can justify at the moment. I have a us ntsc ps2 over here, and a pal ps2 in storage. Thanks for the tip though, something to keep in mind.

They did announce that we will eventually see arcade games on the VC.

I've never owned any of the consoles that are being emulated, so I'll probably pick up a fair amount of VC games - especially if you can earn credit by buying regular Wii games. Off the top of my head, I'd like to see:

Super Metroid
Mario RPG
Paper Mario
Mario Kart 64
Chrono Trigger

Those are the biggies, but there's obviously tons of other games I missed out on.

I hope they put Faxanadu up... I seem to remember liking that one. The Battle of Olympus, Guardian Legend, and StarTropics would be great too.
