Ok, I looked on Gamefaqs and the section that talks about where I'm at doesn't really help.

I'm at the very end of "The Old Tribes" where you have to take the little shuttle around this room and click a bunch of switches. There are 4 docking stations, and 3 of them are working and seem to make electricity run a fan at the top of the room. The 4th station doesn't seem to work for some reason. How do I get through the fan at the top?

You don't want the stations to have power going up to the fan. What you do after you've disabled each shield and flipped each available switch is use the tractor beam from the shuttle on each station. There's a power source behind the docking station that you will be able to lock onto and remove if you use the tractor beam. Simply remove it from the 3 working stations and the fan will shut down.

He's right. It might help to know you may have to shoot at it to reveal the power source.

Some of the puzzles in this game are annoying as hell. Plus all the gravity effects give me a massive headache.

Don't know why I keep playing.

I agree with you there, but I will say that in the later levels there is less shifting in the environment, but there are a few more shuttle levels. The puzzles are easy but can be very annoying. There's one coming up that involves you being trapped in a cube that gave me some trouble. Good luck!
