Any news on Chromehounds?
I saw on IGN that the game had gone gold and is slated for relase end of this month but i haven't heard much on it yet. From the magazine previews and screens i have seen it looks awesome. The various mech classes seemed prime for some big clan battles on Live and if it has decent gametypes i could really get into working out strategies and the like. However, mech games are so hit or miss that i really want to hear/see more on it first.
Anyone heard anything or just looking forward to the game?

I haven't read much yet, but from what I've seen it looks interesting. If it gets some positive word of mouth, I'll likely pick it up for multiplayer alone.
(does it also have split screen play? I have some gamer friends who love a good mech battle).
EDIT: just looked, nope. Still could be worth it for Live play.

July 11th is the "official" release date.
All mech fans are screaming for it(myelf included), lots of the early previews are very "eh" in their opinions.
I will have this on day 1 (or maybe 2 depending on my work cycle)

Reading IGN this afternoon i saw this mentioned about Chromehounds:
Chromehounds has two big things going for it: a formidable and robust Hounds creation tool, with unlockable parts produced as players beat the single-player campaign (in addition to purchasable parts from Xbox Live Marketplace for MP), and a hefty online component, including a handful of multiplayer games and an persistent war campaign.
It looks like we are going to see more and more of the nickle and diming on games. Actually nickle and diming wouldn't be too bad - it's the ten and twentying that is getting nasty.

Dunno what magazine it was from, but some Jap publication had the following scores:
Xbox 360
Chromehounds (Sega): 9, 7, 8, 9 - (33/40)
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (Ubisoft): 9, 8, 8, 9 - (34/40)
Spectral Force 3: Innocent Rage (Idea Factory): 7, 6, 6, 7 - (26/40)
Damn your non-specific ways, magicbox!

I can just see it now......
Random obnoxious 12 year old on Live: "Check out the sick Mech that my parents bought for me. It cost 16,000 marketplace points!"

Chrome Hounds
The 33/40 score is probably from X360 Famitsu, which isn't considered as the REAL Famitsu.
I really don't like where this 'buy in-game content for money' crap that MS is doing. It doesn't really promote anything and it seems that who ever has the most money will have the best mech in online play. So what's next, if you have 100000 dollars you can buy an armageddon tank in Halo 3 so you can kill everyone with no skill? Gee thanks Microsoft. If this is going to be the norm, I'm going to have to start boycotting X360 games.

I'm beginning to get the feeling that this game might be more sim than arcade or perhaps just not polished enough.
As of July 7, here is the average at Gamerankings: 40%

Here are the links:
Eurogamer: 40%
GameBrink: 56%
So, the current average should have read: 48%
Either way, it's not looking too good for Chromehounds.

You can judge for yourself.
I will personally hold off on this one for now. Too bad, really, because I was looking forward to a good mech game on the 360.
A word of caution:
Teamxbox was one of a few (perhaps the only) game reviewers to get a copy of the 'nearly-finished' product. Even before the game was officially released, they had a 2-3 page write-up on the single player aspect of the game, a 2-3 page on the multiplayer, and a segment on customizing your mech.
My point is, I believe their grading and opinion on this game is strongly biased by the game developers...it's like an auto magazine saying in a comparison report that "the 2007 Toyota Yaris feels like a musclecar and is our #1 choice." You later notice that the mag is filled with ads by Toyota.
I'm still interested in seeing what other reviewers will say (gamespy and IGN) as well as forum members here.
