I'm trying to determine if you are headed towards the red ring of death, or have a different problem that is hopefully fixed with a patch or something. I hope it's the latter. Anytime it locks up it makes a screen exactly like the shot I posted. No sounds or anything. I let it sit for a minute before rebooting. My problem sounds exactly the same as the ones the people over at gamefaqs are having. I think it's a software problem. I doubt that everyones systems all died on the same day, playing the same game. |

Oh ok, thanks. |

It has to be the system. |
So I've gotten to the mission called "Images On The Monitor" or something close to that. The arrow keeps pointing me at the monitors in the security room, but when I go up to them, nothing happens. When I talk to Jessie, nothing happens. Anyone know what I need to do here?
|
I have a quick question. Are youa ctually supposed to escort people back to teh security room or are they pretty much just thre to help you? I picked up the first two barricaded in and I have no idea where to take them. They are, however, helpful in getting rid of zombies.
Also, to reiterate, SAVE IN THE BATHROOMS. Check your maps. There is a save spot near most major events. After the first boss, there's one in the gym. There is also one right before him. It does suck that you only have one save slot. However, it doesn't suck that you can restart the game with your current stats. :-) MY screen did that weird thing about 3 days ago at the 360 Dashboard. UGH! |
Wow, nto as much bitching about th SAVE SYSTEM here. Over at CAG, a good amount of people bitch about the SAVE system, is it really that bad?

I went to gamestop yesterday to get it....they told me that if I didnt pre-order it then they didnt have any. I started to walk out and he said to come back tomorrow. I said "No way, ill get it somewhere else".
I picked it up at target a few minutes later. Im through with Gamestop. Its a freaking game store and they dont have a big game on release day?? BS. Order more. I guarentee you that they try to save money on shipping by only overnighting the reserved ones. |

I shop there out of necessity. I live in a small town and the local Circuit City hardly gets stock on the new games at all and when they do they arrive sometimes the week following street. My desire for instant gratification also comes into play. :(
|
I'm going to try to get a copy of this today. Yesterday, I had some surgery done, and my Mom called around for me. No stores had it - well, EB had some, but only enough to fill their pre-orders. So, as of right now, I still don't have it. I'm hoping to find it somewhere today.

Mine's been working fine *knock on wood*.

I loving the game, but hating the save system like everyone else. I think they were aiming for the same sort of system they used in the Resident Evil Outbreak series, where the save was merely an "extended pause". But those games were based on short scenarios so it made more sense there.
I think I've finally decided on a game plan. I'm going to concentrate on finishing the Cases on my first go-through, then worry about the extra stuff on future playthroughs. From what I gather, the game is designed to be played multiple times for completion, unless I misunderstood things. I know your levels and skills carry over, but what about items? I'm talking about keys in particular. I love the way areas are dangerous in different ways. Spoiler:
I wish there was an auto-aim for the guns, a la Grand Theft Auto. While I don't think it works well in that game, the same system would work wonders in this game for picking off zombies. As it stands, the handgun isn't much use for killing zombies unless you are a safe distance away or unless you have some sort of barricade like a counter between you. You get swarmed and all you have is a handgun, sayonara! I also wish the escortees were more intelligent. They should be more like Ashley from Resident Evil 4, where she will instinctively duck when you aim a weapon near her. Considering the melee weapons aren't very precise to begin with, I hate just having to plow through them to save them from an onslaught. |
The more I think about the save system, I suppose I understand what they're thinking. Essentially when you die they are giving you two options: load the last save point and lose all the progress you've made levelling since that save, or save all your levelling progress but start the game from scratch. That said, they should have still allowed multiple saves.

Looks like this game is turning your systems into zombies.
....ok that was bad. |
Just got the game can't wait to try it out tonight.
|
Picked this up yesterday and I'm loving it so far. Nothing like bitch-slappin a zombie with a trout from the pond or nailing an annoying survivor with a Tiger Woods worthy golf shot.
|
I just picked this up yesterday and I'm loving it. My only real gripe so far is that escorting survivors seems really difficult unless you're really close to the security room when you find the survivor. Maybe it's easier once you've leveled up enough, but right now it's too tough to protect the people following you while also making sure you don't get mowed down yourself.
As for the weapons, I'm glad that the demo didn't give away all the good ones. So far I think that the lawnmower is my favorite, but the propane tanks and giant umbrellas are also a lot of fun. I can't wait to hit the hardware store and see what they have there... The plotline is really pretty good. There's a fair bit of cheesiness in some of the things the characters say and do, but so far the pacing of the plot (in terms of what is revealed and when) is very effective. On my first run through, I'm focusing on the main storyline, and then on future play-throughs I'll be worrying more about helping survivors and taking out psychopaths. I think the psychopaths might be my favorite part of the game. Without giving too much away, the one on the roller coaster and the one in the supermarket are very entertaining, and so is the family of gun nuts. There's also a non-zombie threat that I recently ran into, and I'm curious to see where that part of the story leads. I'm trying to keep it a little vague to avoid spoilers (I'm not reading any of the spoilers in this thread myself), but it's nice that there's more to the game than just zombies. |
I find it tough to get survivors to follow me. I went into one place and just ran around the 2 people while pressing the X button. They ran all around me and all around the store but I couldn't get them to talk to me or follow me. They are dead now and I don't feel the least bit bad about it.
