I heard / read there was a confusing save feature.. What's the deal with this? Also, are there any tips (not spoilers) before I start? Thanks! As for tips, it depends upon whether or not you are a good gamer or not. I'm not. But I recommend that the first game you play, just get familiar with the layout of the mall. Learn where the better weapons are. Learn what the books do. (eg. carrying the Engineering book makes hardware weapons: 2x4, lead pipes, etc. last 3x longer) Learn about the bonus items like running on all the treadmills, destroying the punching bags, shooting plates, etc. |

That is how I played my game through. I'd use the hard drive for my main save. And then I'd save a short while later on the memory card. That way, incase I messed anything up or got too small a window to complete a mission, I could just load up the other save. |
Regarding the saves.. My one friend told me that you have to choose "save and continue" and not "save and end". He said if you choose save and end that it will start you back over (carrying over any pp and leveling you did). But, if you choose "save and continue" how do you quit for the night? He said, you have to x out to the dashboard. I find that crazy to be the case. Is this true?
|
If I recall correctly you can choose the following.
Save and continue will save the game and let you keep playing. To end your session, I think you can go into the start menu and choose exit game. Save and end will save your game and take you back to the menu screen. From there, when you start up the game next time, load your save and continue. It will start you from where you saved. It should only start you over when you choose new game from the title screen once you load a save game. if you do that, as you said, it carries over your leveling and skills. |
:hscratch: I haven't noticed anything like that. I save and quit all the time and pick up where I left off next time. If you are unsure, either try it out early or just shut off the 360. If you die, I believe you can save and start over, maybe that is what he is referring to.
As for the actual save system, my only gripe is allowing you to save AFTER a case is expired w/o telling you. So essentially, you save your progress over your last save, but it turns out you are already over your deadline, but you had no idea. Then you are screwed and have to start over. A memory card is a must for this game. I actually like the save system. Makes things more challenging forcing you to figure out a strategy (especially when escorting survivors) instead of just running around blindly. The first time through you probably won't pay much attention to your watch and you won't get far, but it is integral to play and it is a learning lesson. |

Yes. I would have to say that a memory card is a requirement for this game.
If you screw up one save(play time, miss an important scoop or case, or just want to try something completely different w/o worries), booting up a second save is a godsend. |
YIKES! Those are $40 beans!

The first time through you probably won't pay much attention to your watch and you won't get far, but it is integral to play and it is a learning lesson. On the map screen, if you hit the X button, it shows all of your active scoops and case. Each one has a timer bar, and if the timer bar is in the red, it means you have an hour to solve the next case. I just never save my game if the case is in the red and I know I won't make it in time. I never had a problem, and I got Ending A my first time through without ever starting over. Just pay attention to the timer bars, and you will not have a problem with saving your game in a bad place. Also, you do not absolutely need to start over if you miss a case anyway. There are 6 endings, and only 2 of them actually require you to complete all the cases. Ed, the pilot, will still pick you up at noon on the 3rd day no matter if you solved the case storyline or not. Actually, if you are doing the Saint walkthrough for the "save 50 survivors" achievement, you HAVE to fail the cases on purpose. It is impossible to save 50 survivors and complete the case mission both in the same game. |

What do you need to do to get the "true" ending (and unlock inifinity mode)? Solve all CASES and SCOOPS? Solve all cases and talk to Isabella at a particular time? Solve all cases, unlock overtime mode and solve all of the cases there? I haven't been able to find a clear explanation. (thanks in advance) |

Solve all cases, unlock overtime mode and solve all of the cases there? I haven't been able to find a clear explanation. (thanks in advance) To get the true ending, you need to first get Ending A in 72 hour mode. Ending A's requirements are: solve all cases, speak to Isabella between 10AM and noon on the 22nd, and then be at the heliport at noon on the 22nd. You do not need to solve all the scoops. Scoops are only good for rescuing survivors, so you don't have to do a single scoop to get Ending A. Your pilot will not come if you do not go back to the hideout to speak to Isabella after she calls you at 10AM on the 22nd. Getting Ending A unlocks overtime mode which starts as soon as the credits end. You get to keep your current level, stats, weapons, items, etc. There aren't any cases in overtime, just a couple fetch quests. Overtime only has one ending, which is the True Ending, so as long as you beat overtime, you will get it. Finishing overtime unlocks infinity mode on the main menu. Here are the requirements for each ending in 72 hour mode if anyone is wondering (some of these might be slight spoilers): Ending A: Solve all cases, speak to Isabella between 10AM and noon on the 22nd, and then be at the heliport at noon on the 22nd. Ending B: Do not solve all cases, and be at the heliport at 12PM on the 22nd. Ending C: Solve all cases, do not be at the heliport at 12PM on the 22nd. Ending D: Spoiler:
Ending E: Do not solve all cases, do not be at the heliport at 12PM on the 22nd. Ending F: Spoiler:
Ending A is best, and each ending gets progressively worse, with Ending F being the worst ending. |
Fantastic! Thank you so much for that info. There's actually a chance I can make it to infinity mode!
----------- update: Thanks kgrogers1979 ! I got "ending A" and unlocked Overtime! |
Couple quick questions..
1. When holding books you don't have to actually have them in your hand for them to take effect right? 2. When trying to rescue people do you always have to take them back to the security room? For example, I just unbaracaded the two dudes in that one shop. I now have them following me along w/ a lady who lost her daughter. Do I have to take them back there? And wth isn't it marked on the map? Thanks! |

The security room shows up in the bottom right corner over entrance plaza. BUT you cannot access it from EP, you have to go through the Paradise Plaza warehouse. Thanks! |
Thanks MC!

Curse you Otis for welding the security room door shut. It is a security room for crying out loud, so the door has to have some heavy duty locks on it. Plus, the door is solid metal. I don't think zombies can break through a locked metal door. It would be far more convenient to get to the security room via the second floor of Entrance Plaza (Frank could just knock and say that it is him and Otis could unlock the door for him). Nope, instead Otis wants Frank to get his workout by going through the warehouse, taking the elevator all the way up to the roof, then crawling through the air ducts back down to the security room. Screw you Otis, next time you can do all the legwork. :) |

On a completely unrelated note... I finally completed Overtime Mode and unlocked inifinity mode... woohoo! |

However, when you have a survivor following, they won't climb up onto the shelves, so you have to take the elevator. |

OK, so I knew who the two Snuff Shot achievements are of. I assumed that during the course of the game/cases they would attack you so you could take pictures of them. Looks like I was wrong, and you had to go look for them after certain events. I went looking for them, but they were nowhere to be found. Unfortunately, I didn't do that and my two save points are well past where they needed to be. I'm assuming I won't be getting these two achievements this time around? :(
And how the hell do you take out the Hella Copter? I have plenty of machine guns (bless you mini-chainsaws!) but can't seem to get it down. |

Otis has pissed me off one to many times. I haven't played in a few days. I tried going for the "Transmissionary" Achievement, probably played through the game 3 times just for this damn achievement, and saved at various points and done a few extra hours here and there as well and I cannot get him to make a certain call. I'm following a guide for this one, and I meet all the requirements for the call, yet he just will not call. Fuck Otis. |

He has also accidently hit me with that stupid jump kick of his many times, and even killed me with it twice. I wish I could slice and dice him with the katana like you do the zombies. |
