On a side note, has anyone tried to get the Gourmet achievement? I know you have to eat one of everything in the mall, but does include the mixed drinks like Zombait, Quickstep, etc.? Also, for the Clothes Horse achievement.... does that include 1) the unlockable outfits, and 2) things like haircuts/dye jobs? |

Cliff's machete is on the floor in front of the chainsaws in Crislips. Like I said, I'm always finding something new. This one is just hilarious.... I learned you can pick-up the survivors. I had two survivors following. I gave each one a weapon. I then used the Lift-up skill and tossed one of 'em into a crowd of zombies. After he got up he started hacking and slashing with the hunting knife I gave him. With the other survivor I used the Hammer throw skill to send him off into a crowd of zombies. When he finally came to a stop he started swinging away with the bat. I couldn't stop laughing out loud for a few seconds. Love this game! |

Yeah, thanks a ton for the chainsaw tip! I loved the weapon before, but now it is absolutely badass. I went through well over 500 guys and it didn't even start flashing yet.

Need some help here with the 3rd time you face Carlito in the matientence tunnels.

i was at a lower level than you, just kept getting him to run into a wall, went on the side and kept slicing him with the katana/sword

For those that beat the game once,
If you want to try to get some of the other achivements, can you blow off all the case files and just concentrate on getting survivors, etc? Or do you have to do the case files to a point so that you can progress the game? |

However (this is why this was a good question), in order for you to have easier access to Entrance Plaza you must complete the cases up to the point where the gates becomed unlocked. I forget which case number it is, but I know it's the case where Carlito is trying to snipe you from the second floor of the Entrance Plaza. After you defeat him, he opens the gates and you'll now have easy access to that part of the mall. You can stop pursuing the cases after this. |

And as I said, this is conditioned or whether or not the game actually counts those non-rescued people as survivors. I know they are counted in the number when you get an ending (heck, if you get one of the endings where Frank makes it on the helicopter it counts him as well), I just don't know if they count toward the achievement. EDIT: I had mistakenly referred to Sophie when I meant Simone. Corrected. |
Good points.
What about the survivors at the very beginning of the game. Brad tells you to make your way to the stairs. Well, none of the survivors on the first floor can follow you. I can't get them to 'Join'. Perhaps making your way to the stairs as quicly as possible before any of them die will count as a rescue??? |
Also, I posted earlier about the Gourmet achievement. I have discovered that, yes, the drinks are required for that achievement.
Here is a list of every food item in the mall: Spoiler:

They have to. If you look at your notebook it says they are dead. I have tried both ways, stanying there fighting with them and hoping the zombies go away, they don't, and tried running right up the stairs, they all died each time thanks to that stupid dog. :) |

To be fair, it isn't the dogs fault. It was the stupid old woman that wanted to open the door to save it instead of just writing the annoying pooch off because it was surrounded by hundreds of zombies. |

I haven't seen this posted in the thread yet.
Has anyone heard of the bathroom shortcut? I must have missed it after I killed the clown. Some survivor named Greg is supposed to unlock a connection between the Paradise Plaza and Wonderland bathrooms via a mirror. |

It's someplace you wouldn't really think to look, but it's incredibly useful for bringing survivors from Wonderland Plaza or nearby to the security room.

As a side note, I'm enjoying this game a hell of a lot. The second play through is much easier since you keep your level/skills/etc., which is making it more fun for me. Killing the psychos is a breeze now, and you can really focus on hitting more achievements the second time around. It's good to have a game with a large number of tough achievements. |

Re: Bathroom shortcut
I missed that shortcut my first go-through because I never fought the clown. But it's a vital thing to get done if you plan on rescuing any suvivors in Wonderland. The way I see it, for safest pssage through the mall, you need to have five things done. 1) Get the maintenance key Head through Leisure Park to the parking garage, grab a vehicle and drive to the room in the middle of the map. 2) Kill the convicts in the park At least in the beginning, before 4 & 5 are done. If you do it early you can more safely get the first day escorts out through the park. Eventually they'll respawn, but by then you should have the whole mall open. 3) Open the gate between Al Fresca and Entrance Brad does this in case 1-3, but you can do it yourself if you hit the button. 4) Open the bathroom shortcut Defeat Adam the Clown and have Greg lead you to the bathroom. 5) Open the gate between Entrance and Paradise. Must activate case 2-2. |

I'm enjoying the hell out if this game, though I agree with everyone else that the save system just eats ass. |
