I'm aware of that, I'm saying it should be motion sensitive for the Wii, not just work on the Wii with a GC controller. Not a big deal at all, it just seems that the Gamecube is dead already why not just forge ahead with just the Wii?

Why so fast to discount the current systems? There are still a lot of Gamecubes out there and not everyone is going to be able to buy new systems this year. They're still releasing GBA games, they're still releasing Xbox 1 games and Sony just said PS2 support will go on for "years."

I don't think a mostly 2D platformer would have anything but gimmicky use of the motion sensor anyway.

Certain genre's just won't take advantage of the controller much, just like games like Princess Peach and Castlevania and New Super Mario Bros don't do much of anything with the touch screen on the DS.

One release a month isn't exactly screaming support though.

Don't underestimate the selling power of GameCube software, especially when it's 1st party, and especially when it's Mario. Even when hardware sales are sluggish, the GameCube has an astronomical rate of software sales to hardware sales. Take a look at a list of the GameCube's Mario titles along with approximate worldwide sales in Millions:

Smash Bros Melee - 6.05
Mario Kart: Double Dash - 6.01
Super Mario Sunshine - 5.56
Mario Party 4 - 2.43
Mario Party 5 - 2.01
Mario Party 6 - 1.59
Paper Mario 2 - 1.51
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour - 1.30
Mario Party 7 - 1.19
Mario Power Tennis - 1.10
Super Mario Strikers - 1.01

With only about 18 Million Gamecubes out there, that means about 1 in 3 people own SSBM, Mario Kart: DD, and Sunshine. I think the only one's not to crack 1 Million are Mario DDR and Super Mario Baseball. Even with next-gen upon us, I'd be suprised if Super Paper Mario didn't get at least close to 1 Million, especially with the Wii's backwards compatibility. Wii's already got a Mario and a Smash Bros game coming, so it's not really like the Wii needed this game.

Will a 2D platformer of Super Paper Mario sell better or worse than Paper Mario 2?

Hard to say, but the Mario Advance ports on the GBA were far better selling than Mario & Luigi: Super Star Saga.

I'm playing through the Mario Advance games right now, and I love them, and I had literally no interest in Paper Mario 2, but may pick up Super Paper Mario.

Can't wait for this one.

Would have been nice as a Wii title, but it's understandable. Some people (especially kids) really can't afford to buy a new system at launch. We still have to give them something new to play. But, the gamecube is being phased out extremely quickly, so this seems to be one of the last power titles for the system.

But, Super Mario RPG was one of the last titles for SNES and that turned out very well.

I do think Wii exclusive features on this game would be a good idea. Bonus Levels, Bonus Games, etc. It gives more incentive for the Wii.

It would have made for a decent launch title though since Galaxy has been pushed back.
