Overall good presentation. Was disappointed that they didn't drop the price bomb down, but am very excited for the possibilities.

So there really wasn't any major news other than just a bunch of game demos?

Pretty much. I was already excited about the Wii and the conference did nothing to accelerate or dampen that.

Sony's was like a classroom lecture. Nintendo's was a Rock Show.

I would sumerize it as a presentation that focused on the games and possablities of the controller. New IP's shown. In addition:

[1] Inclusion of in controller speaker for "3d audio" effect.
[2] Wii Connect 24 - making online presence 100% seamless (power on, interface, downloads, etc. No waiting.)

That's good enough for me. I'm just wondering what the "final secret" was supposed to be they've been pimping for a while now.

I totally marked out when they drew back the bow in Zelda using the controller. Totally badass.

very impressed with what i saw from nintendo. If they would have announced either the price or the date(if it was before or on the same with PS3) they would have absolutely crushed sony.

We're sitting in the Kodak theater waiting for the press corps, VIPs, and assorted industry folk to file in, ever so slowly. Pictochat sessions are starting to fill up as people take their seats and whip out their portables.

^

Man, that had to have been fun.

It is my opinion that they need to come out at least a week or two before the PS3 to grab momentum away from the PS3.

This was probably mentioned already, but being at work I don't have time to scan through the previous six (!) pages -- the feeling I got was that the speaker in the controller was the secret they've been holding on to for a while. At first, I wasn't terribly excited about it until they demo'd how it would work. As you pull back your bow's drawstring in Zelda, you hear the sound come from the controller. When you let it go, you hear the initial zing of the arrow come from the controller, but it dissipates as the sound travels to the TV, giving a better sense of immersion in the game.

Zelda at *launch* was a big surprise as well, IMO. Don't know if either of these was the "final secret" to which you refer.

What about a week or two after, when people won't probablly be able to get their hands on a ps3 in stores, but then they see the wii is availabe and buy it instead?

I know I sound like a record, but I'm betting an October launch. I would say "I have info" but since its always suspect to hardware sourcing and game development it means little. However, internally Nintendo is shoting of an October launch.

After seeing both conferences, I'm sold on the Wii. PS3 will have to wait. My kids love Mario and Link, so that is what they will be getting for Christmas.
