So this makes me think that today's update is meant to enable a ton of people better download speeds. A server update was probably in order to let people download tons of data, and be happy with it.

Now if only they would release the dashboard update.

That is the only reason why I don't ever use the marketplace, because I can't do anything else at the same time.

The playable demos and HD trailers actually make it better than going to E3. The lines and crowds are a total dick.

If only Nintendo and Sony could do the same thing.

How badass would it be if they included a Halo 3 trailer in that bunch?

Live should be back at 1600 PST(4pm PST). Meaning that after dinner, I should be able to jump on live and check things out/play games. It will be 7pm for me when it comes back online.

Forgot to include the following in my inital copy/paste:
Building on the success of the Xbox Live Free Gold Weekend partnership, Verizon will be presenting gamers in the U.S. with a free full week of Xbox Live Gold access and sponsoring the Xbox.com E3 coverage for the week. In addition to this, Verizon will be sponsoring the giving away of a million Microsoft points. For more information about the week long programming and giveaway, US gamers should check out www.xbox.com/e32006 and www.richerdeeperbroader.com/xbox/.

European football fans getting a boost from adidas

As well as bringing E3 right into their homes, soccer loving Xbox 360 owners in Europe can also take advantage of the Xbox Live™ Football Free-For-All, sponsored by adidas, taking place at the same time. This is a week-long schedule of activities on Xbox Live that celebrates all things football in a non-stop, connected world – gamers in European countries should check out www.Xbox.com for more details.

Good call. I would love to be able to download demos / trailers WHILE I play a game.. Did they say they are going to make that happen? If so..

I hope Test Drive: Unlimited has a playable demo, but I'll settle for a trailer.

MS has said it's working on this, but no hard date that I've seen. Lots of us are hoping that this big update means they're putting it in now.

I think major nelson has hinted at it, but he is pretty vague when it comes to the dashboard update.

A million points would be sweet. Too bad you couldn't resell those to make a little profit.

Anyone know what Jenny McCarthy's gamertag is? GoLucky needs to add her to the DVDtalk gamertag list.

If thye do it like they did last time, it's given away in blocks of 500 points to any gamertag.

I'm sure Jenny's GT will be released soon

On his site, where people are discussing the XBox Live update, believing it to be a dashboard update, and his podcast reporting the live service update, Major Nelson posted this.

Major Nelson said:
Actually, if you listen CLOSELY it says 'in preparation for....' it does not say that the actual upgrade will take place during this time.

Two very different things. Oops…did I say to much ?
