Official Xbox Magazine didn't like it too much, which leads me to believe that I might love this game. Anyone play it yet?

None of the major sites have reviewed it, but so far the early reviews have not been kind.

Is this game out today, or will it be like Dead Rising and be available tomorrow?

It's not in stores today.

If a game says it is released 8/29, it should be in the stores 8/29. Not 8/30, 8/31, 9/1 or 9/2.

Figured. I don't understand the videogame release system. It makes no sense whatsoever.

Generally the "release date" means "shipping date". stores near the distributor can get it that day, most get it the next day.

If that's true, all the stores around here don't seem to follow that. For Dead Rising, they all had it in on Tuesday and told me that they could not sell it until Wednesday. Yet with Madden 07 and now Saint's Row, they can be purchased on a Tuesday. Makes no sense. You never have this problem with DVDs and Cds.

90% of the time, the "release date" is the date they're shipped out. Stores on the east coast sometimes get these late in the evening on the day. All stores in the West Coast get them the next day.

Now, 10% of the time, a video game is street dated. This means that the publisher has set a specific date for the video game to come out everywhere in the country. In this case, the game comes in to the stores before that date. The stores hold the copies in the back and sell them on the street date. This is what EA does with Madden. We got the discs the Friday before the release and held them in the back at work.

I pre-ordered it yesterday, because EB said they won't have it in until tomorrow. I wanted to make sure that I'll be able to get a copy.

Gamestop near me said they'll have it this afternoon. I'm picking it up after work. Can't wait to play it.

I'm avoiding it today because if I pick it up, I'll play it and forget my nap and the Bungie Humpday Challenge.

Picked this game up today and so far it's pretty damn good. I really like the fact that you can position yourself when fighting. I'm looking foward to fighting people on Live, that should be fun.

I just checked Future Shop's site and they have it at two locations close to me. So, if EB doesn't have it tomorrow, I'll pick it up there. I'm sure I'll have fun cancelling my EB pre-order, though.

Funny thing is I got mine at Walmart and it still came with the pre-order only comic book.

I don't care for turn based rpg's at all. I'll pass on this one.

I was able to pick up my pre-order today. I'm going to start playing it in a bit.

See, I sort of enjoy them. The IGN review looked decent.

Just a frustration

That is actually a great idea. They are probably concerned about being inundated with messages, invites, etc. but it would be helpful in evaluating a review.

That's because you don't review Nintendo games out of pocket. Nobody takes you seriously and will send you invites. Sheesh, so obvious.

I'm really starting to like this game. It's like a mix between Final Fantasy (plot), Mega Man Battle Network (battle system) , and Pokemon (party members).

There's a huge variety of Golems to collect, you have the cute Pokemon looking ones, evil dark knights, and huge monsters.
