I just picked this up today. I didn't realize it came with a DVD... Total Bonus.

I probably won't get to it until Saturday, but I'm very much looking forward to this.

Yeah - and the only negative thing I can say so far about GoW2 is that there's a lot of screen-tearing -
What is screen-tearing? I haven't heard of this term in gaming before, can you explain?

If you're familiar with PC gaming, it's like turning off the V-Sync so the game can run smoother.

Here's what it can look like:

considering the last version retailed at $10 cheaper when released I wouldn't consider the added dvd to be a bonus but instead a replacement for your $10

I would have prefered to save the extra coin

I can't wait for my rental copy to arrive but I am a bit worried that one review I saw said their only complaint was the game was cheap at times. The first game was so frustrating at times that I packed it up in the sleeve to send it back to GameFly 5 or 6 times in one day because the game was pissing me off. Each and every time I would try it again and after a bit I would get by what was bothering me......until.....

The part where I stopped playing the first one was toward the very end where there were spinning pillars of blades that you had to climb up. That was my breaking point. Hopefully nothing as cheesy, cheap, annoying or aggravating is in this one.

I guess I didn't realize the first one went for 39.99. I didn't pick it up until it hit 15 bucks on sale.

I was at a similar point with the first game. There was a level where you had to jump across the bladed platforms, hit a switch, then get back across them, and do something else, and it was on a timer. It must have taken me 20 tries to get past this...

THEN...
I finally get it, and am proceeding in... and the game immediately hits an area where it needs to load new data, and the whole thing freezes.

Never have I considered console murder more than that very moment.

In an interview, the game's developers mentioned how much people hated the spinning blades, so they purposely kept them out.

Something tells me this game would have came out at 49.99 regardless.

I don't know if you ever figured it out, but I was having the same problem at first. I think the controls are pretty sensitive and so when it prompted me to push back and forth (from the 3 o'clock to the 9 o'clock positions), I don't think I was doing it exactly right and I kept failing the sequence. It took me a few times but I finally figured out I was pushing the analog stick from the 3 o'clock position to somwhere in the 7 or 8 o'clock range. Once I started paying closer attention to it my problems stopped.

LOL. I did the same thing to fund my 360. Thankfully a friend had one collecting dust, so I have a permanent loan of his.

I'm enjoying this game more than most of the next gen titles for the 360.

Even with the aggravation that was God of War I told a coworker that he HAS to rent or buy the first one. He says he will most likely pick up both at the same time since I've talked about the first game so much.

picked it up Wednesday but just started playing today
finished up and left off after The Steeds Of Time

what a glorious game.... I didn't think GOW1 could be topped in terms of gameplay and sheer beauty

this is the best PS2 looking game by far and one of the reasons I have had no urgency to upgrade to "next-gen"

Anyone else beat the game yet? There will definitely be a God of War 3 as the ending to God of War 2 is a major cliffhanger.

Do not read this spoiler if you do not want the ending spoiled.

Spoiler:
Kratos beats the crap out of Zeus and is about to kill him when Athena steps in and takes the killing blow. Zeus runs away, and Kratos declares war on Olympus and says he will kill all the gods.

I'm curious as to what makes God of War such a good game (original and new one). I played the demo for the 1st one and it seems to be mostly hack-n-slash with imo way too many enemies. Of course, that was only the demo, so I'd assume it's more than that.

Are there puzzles and adventure aspects to the game as well or it is all fighting enemy after enemy and then beating a boss?

There are a good deal of puzzles, most of which that are easy enough that they don't drive you crazy trying to figure them out like other games. Some are actually fairly intuitive, especially due to the fantastic settings that the game takes place in.

Other then that, there's quite a bit of button mashing but it's the way the game goes about it with tons of style as well as a very engrossing storyline that makes the game fun. I imagine you'd miss out on the plot in the demo, which I enjoyed immensely, especially since the subject matter and setting is interesting to me.

I finished it yesterday as well. Unless they drastically change the format of the 3rd game, GOW 3 will definitely be the reason I finally end up getting a PS3.

I broke down and picked it up. Only about 3-4 hours in so far and I'm loving it. I don't think I've played enough to know if I like it better than the first.

I don't know how far I am into the game... 5 hours or so, I'd guess... but it's an awesome experience.

So would you say the game takes less that 10 hours to complete?
