Condemned: Criminal Origins - PC demo out

Just finished playing the demo for this game, so sweet, you’re a cop looking for a serial killer in a grisly realistic env. - lots of bludgeoning transients with objects not primarily designated as weapons (a.k.a "die at the hand of my rustily nailed 2x4, hobo junkies!"). It’s like a cross between Resident Evil and Manhunt. I'm gonna get myself a copy for PC, methinks. Anyone played the full game? How is it? Demo is here: http://www.condemnedgame.com/

It was the best launch title on the 360 and still one of my favorites for the system.

Brilliant game and they are already hard at work on a sequel.

You betcha we've played it, and I'm going to have to agree with Corvin on the best launch title (that I've played). Both reviewers here rated it Highly Recommended.. And review #2

I want to pick this up for the PC, it was one of the games I am most interested someday when the 360 drops in price, now I don't have to wait, except I will probably wait til the game hits $20.

Well, given those reviews I'm gonna pick a copy up after work. That and that I've played the demo 3 times now. So good. I love that creepy nebulous weird Japanesehorroresque style it has. I heard some gab about the PC Condemned having extras the 360 version doesn't, anyone know anything about that?

For those picking it up, do yourself a favor and ditch the guns. All melee baby. Granted there aren't a lot, and there are no ammo replenishments, but they give you enough to get by. Sure melee makes the game harder, but it actually makes the game creepier since all the combat is close quarters.

This is one game where the gamerpoints on the 360 make sense, especially the "All Melee" award. Forcing you to get into the game and atmosphere even more.

yup, if it wasn't for the first gun I picked up (and forgot to melee with) I'd have had that award

The first chapter? You start with a gun and have to flip it around to use it as a melee weapon. You can just replay that chapter to get it.

Well, you might have to do more than the one level, but probably not the whole game for the melee award. Did you use the butt of each gun as a weapon? If not follow up chapter 1 with chapter 7. If you still don't have it hit up level 4. All the weapons can be found on those three boards. That will give you the Gold Melee Master Award- 50pts -(beating the game with only Melee weapons). There is also a Melee Mayhem Award- 20pts- Which you get for using EVERY item in the game.

You will have to play all three of those again and USE every weapon to get the Firearm Freedom Award. - 20pts -

Ooooo. That all sounds fun. I think I'll probably play through Condemned more than once, I was up half the night playing it yesterday. I like my pistol, though, so didn't play all melee. Still, the most satisfying moments are the deep crunching connections of the big weapons like the sledgehammer.

The meat cleaver has quite a sound effect with it as well.

I finished Condemned this weekend, now I'm playing through again, trying for the alt. ending. I keep looking at random objects in the office and wanting to bash co-workers over the head with them....

to get the other ending, just load your last save and choose to do the other thing.

I just bought a 360, less than a week ago, and it's the main game I've been playing. It's a great game and I'm on Chapter 5. I have been using guns, but I plan to play through the game one or two more times - I will definitely go through using melee weapons one of those times, in order to get the achievement.

Aha! You = smart. I hadn't thought about that.... I actually typed wrong, meant "the extra scenes" not "the other ending" (though I want that too) because you get extra if you get all the metal pieces and stuff, right? I thought maybe the extra footage would help explain the ending.

Ahhh the propaganda reports. They'll explain a little more into the story of Condemned...

Do you know what you get if you complete Condemned without using any guns? Is it just a badge or is there any extra play/scenes?

no extra scenes...just an achievement on the 360 which probably translated to a badge on PC.

The satisfaction of completing the game with only beat downs isn't enough?

Heh, no, I want stuff! Lots of stuff! Actually, for Condemned the satisfaction isn't quite as satisfactory, as I swear I only used the pistol on the first level and the shotgun like three times in the game. I'm better at melee anyway, my aim sucks.

When it went into FPS mode I kinda lost interest. Glad you guys are enjoying it. I think I'm just getting sick of all the FPS games, especially cause nothing seems to rival Call of Duty 2 for me...

It's not a FPS game. Sure it is in first person perspective and there are guns, but that doesn't necessarily make it a shooter.

This is even further away from a FPS as Breakdown is...
