As for how far I am,

Challenge: Training: Cleared 99
Normal: Cleared 99
Hard: Level 63
Special: Level 39 (only did this board once though)

Quest: On Level 39

Puzzle: Completed 1-15

Impressive. I need to go back to the challenge mode.

Based on the word of mouth here I just picked up Trauma Center off half.com for $27. All the others were going for $40-$50+(same goes for ebay). Hopefully it lives up to the hype. ;) This is the most expensive DS game I've bought yet.

I've gotten my wife into Brain Age and she will probably dig this one as well. So hopefully one of us will like it.

New to DS, bought my DS Lite last week, question about the download stations, I realize that these demos only stay in memory until the DS is turned off, what about if I put it in sleep mode? I'd like to try out some of these demos, but don't want to stand around Best Buy all night. Does anyone else feel weird walking into a store with their DS? Has it ever been a security issue? Why doesn't Nintendo offer these up through their website?

Thanks.

That's how you do it, keep the system asleep. And yes, I always feel awkward walking into a store with an item they sell in my pocket.

You'll be able to dl them to your Wii when that comes out. No word on why it won't work through a PC.

prayformojo 06-21-06 12:15 PM

Thanks for the knowledge.

It would probably make it too easy to pirate games if you could send "demos" from any PC.

I picked it up as well at Toys R Us the other day for $30. They had one copy and I was surprised to see it there since no where else has had it and it is mentioned as a rarity.

As I was checking out at the video game area cashier, this guy walks to the counter and states that they should be holding a copy of the Trauma Center game. I had a clear bag and don't know if he saw I had just bought it but the cashier was looking everywhere for it. It appeared that they were asked to hold it but they never took it off the sales floor. I just lucked up and quickly slipped away with my "steal". The dude looked pretty pissed.

I stopped by there again today to pick up Big Brain with a $5 coupon and the same cashier was there. I asked him if he remembered the guy and he said yes and that they guy got super-pissed. He said that they guy left in a rant but then realized he had locked his keys in his car. He had to call a locksmith to get them out.

What a bad day...the guy excitedly exits his car forgetting his keys to nab the rare Trauma Center but then only to find he locked his keys in the car after they sold his Trauma Center...thus costing him at least 50 bucks for the key-freeing and no game to enjoy. I should feel bad... ;)

Anyway, TC is pretty interesting. It seems to be pretty difficult for me...even the easy ones. I am only on my third operation and have had two people die so far. Oops.

Is Gunstar Super Heroes (GBA) any good? :) Its not a DS game I know, but I bought it to go with my new Lite :)

Hell yes it is.

Well you can send demos through certain types of wi-fi cards, but it's not really pirating. It's still just the demo versions of the games. I tried it about six months ago and it definitely sold me on a few games. I hadn't planned on getting Trauma Center until I tried the Japanese demo.

 That's awesome. Can't wait to try it out.

Trauma Center gets hardcore real quick. I'm currently on a mission that I have to operate 5 people in 10 minutes one after the other.

GoVegan 06-21-06 01:43 PM

Trauma Center makes me angry at my weak, fragile patients. Sometimes I just slice at them with my scalpel until they "go away." Part of the problem might be that I'm just not very good at the game yet.

That one sucked.
Spoiler:
However, iirc, you only needed to save 3... I think you had to be working on the 4th when the time is up. Not sure.

On the complete opposite end of the spectrum from TC, has anyone heard about Break'em All? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaRtNa-lFLY

That looks fun as hell. Hoping for a budget entry.

darkside 06-21-06 02:00 PM

Break em all does look cool if its a $20 title. It reminds me of some of the really good Breakout games I have played on the palm OS. They worked very well with the stylus.

Anybody played Point Blank DS? I'm considering this game and I would like to to if it's worth buying it now at the current price.

I was wondering why this can't be done anywhere you're connected through WiFi. Nintendo could set up a special FTP server that the DS could check for demos. There would be no PC involved at all.

Ooh... Maybe I'll stock up on a few games now and get the DS Lite later... ;)

Animal Crossing, Sudoku Gridmaster, Super Princess Peach, and the New Super Mario Bros. are all games I'd love to have and at $70 for the three (I'd prolly leave Sudoku for later) that's a tough deal to pass up... but to find a TRU that has all three at the same time... that's another challenge.

Josh H 06-21-06 07:28 PM

The deal might possibly be on amazon as well (since the online Toy's R Us store is through them). But I doubt it. worth checking on sunday though.

That said, AC, Peach and NSMB are popular games that almost every store keeps in stock, so it shouldnt' be a problem if you hit the store up on sunday.

I meant that if you could set up your PC as a transfer station, it wouldn't take long for the bootleg crowd to figure out how you can use that to send full games that people download illegally.

Outlaw 06-21-06 08:16 PM

I've been playing Super Princess Peach lately on my DS Lite. I got it at launch but put it on pause for awhile because of other DS games. It looks amazing on the DS Lite screens! Just finished the cloud world. The game is really fun, and the music and colorful graphics are great. Its not too hard, but also has some challenges too! I highly recommend it if you're on the fence, it's 2D gaming goodness.

Josh H 06-21-06 08:24 PM

Yep peach is great, ridiculously easy, but a blast to play through. I played until I had unlocked everything.

sdcrym 06-21-06 08:27 PM

Doubtful. The DS doesn't have enough internal memory to be able to run a full game. That's why there's a difference in features between multi-cart and single-cart wireless play.

Josh H 06-21-06 08:39 PM

All the pirates would have to do is create a flash cart that could save the downloaded games, and they could then be played off of it.
