Did anyone else get double charged with the BestBuy.com preorder?

I was charged last week, and now again when it shipped?!?!

I pre-ordered at Gamestop on 9/12. I paid that off earlier this week with the manager probably lying somewhat by really making me think it wouldn't be too much after 11/22 before my system came in.

On 11/16 I got an order in at costco.com. That system has shipped with a delivery date of 11/28.

I think I'm going to go on Monday and get my money back from Gamestop. I'm glad my money wasn't tied up there for months. All I had was $50 I gave them on 9/12. You'd think Gamestop could do better than this but Costco comes through when Gamestop can't. Which company is in the video game business here??

Are you sure it was not just a pre-auth when you ordered and now they've actually charged because they shipped it?

is it really going to be hard to get a system after about a week or two? i cant think it would be.

I don't know.. something has messed up. The original card showed a hold on the amount of 567 (a few days ago), but BB said today they tried to charge it was denied & to call them as soon as i can.

I called and gave them another CC, which went through. After that I called the original card company back & they said they had approved the charge of 567 days earlier (though it still showed as pending, and if cancelled it wouldn't show that yet).

Now I don't know where I stand. Possibly charged to both cards... I'm going to wait 'til Monday & see what's what.. just a little frustrating.

Regardless, it looks like my shipment would have gone out today, but didn't because of the billing issues. Earliest it can now is Monday. :violin:


Has anyone who got the BB preorder received notification that it shipped?

I did. I only have an $1100 limit on my Best Buy card, and I almost never use it, so when I see that I have $43 left on my account, it's pretty glaring. :)

OTOH, I see that the console is finally about to ship.

I'm in the same boat, Adam. System's being prepped for shipping. Next: the controller!

no kidding... I put it on a card I never use, too.. has a 600 max. BB.com e-mailed me saying my order will be cancelled if I didn't call right away.

If my order would have been cancelled because of their mistake, heads would have rolled. :)

Adam, have they corrected it yet for you? I'm going back & forth with BB.com to get it corrected.. they can't find the double charge?!?

It could be that they reserved the $562.74 (or whatever) for the pre-order without charging, and then they went ahead and ignored that reserve and just placed a whole new charge. Technically, they've only charged you $562.74, but they still have the other $562.74 'reserved', so...yeah, it's a whole mess.

I'll straighten out any dangling threads after I have the console in my hands. :)

Just got back from Target. The dude said they're getting 40 of each system type for Tuesday. Kicks the shit out of Best Buy for odds of getting a console.

I can't believe there getting 40 of each. Maybe 40 total. I was in my Wal-Mart today and the guy there said they are getting 15 total.

That's what I thought too...but he said "40 of each type"... now the question is, do I beleive him and go there or stick my plan A, the bundle at costco.

Question - I'm sure this has been discussed but I thought games would be selling at $50, but it looks like it's now $60. Did they decide to change the pricepoints or were they originally announced at $60?

Sucks...yeah back in the day they were selling for upwards of $70 but for the last five yrs it's been $50. Kinda like having to pay more for SE dvd's now....

:lol: I seriously doubt a Target is getting 80 systems, with a 50-50 ratio, unless Bill Gates niece runs that store. That is more than pretty much every Best Buy other than the 12 opening at midnight.

My Target said 20 and were unsure of the ratio.

Some of them are $50 and some are $60. I'm not sure what the norm will end up being. So far I've picked up PDZ, PGR, Madden 2006, and Tony Hawk...2 of those were $50 and 2 were $60.

The first-party titles are $50 (PDZ, PGR3, and Kameo); as far as I know, everything else is $60.

For all you Best Buy Preorder people, I just checked my orderstatus. While the system is still being prepped and the controller is still on backorder (it seems unlikely that'll be in my hands before the 22nd), my Madden was shipped and was supposed to be here tomorrow (21st). But after checking out the situation at UPS, it looks like it's been rescheduled for the 22nd.

Is that a typical thing, or did BB intentionally do that for some reason?

Any opinions on that?

Give it a few minutes... I just checked my order, and my 360 has shipped!! (status changed within the last hour)

Controller is still on backorder, but looks like I'm ready to go. :)

Not sure where to put this since there are so many 360 threads but I figured this would be a place as any. I finally saw the demo at best buy. This guy was playing some sort of medal of honor fps game on it at the time, it didn't look that much better than current X-box from what I saw. Only game I had time for was Kameo. The intro was amazing, very fluid, and real time, I was impressed, and it was nice to finally play the game after seeing on the back of my Gamecube system box so long ago when I first bought it :). Though not enough to want to buy a 360 yet, there wasn't anything really next-gen about it other than the updated graphics, same with the movies of the other games I saw. The guy behind me was freaking out though, kept shaking his head and saying how awesome it was. I'm going back to play PD0 later in the week if I have time.

Sorry dude. This is looking to be a PS2 fiasco all over again. Only worse because there are only about half the systems on launch that the PS2 had.

It's going to a bloody massacre. I fear for my life. lol.

One store about 30 miles from us is doing the Midnight opening. But, it happens to be a dangerous town. I really don't feel safe going out there for this. It's just not worth the risk.

I will just try my luck at a different location in a better area. Not that any area is exactly the best area for something like this. Bring your mace, pocket knife, and shotgun. I fear some of us will need it to fend off robbers, obsessive housewives, and overactive males.

I STILL can't find the S-Video cables anywhere. I am going to Gamestop in the am to pick up a few things and I'm hoping they have a set that isn't reserved by someone. The local Wal-Mart did have a few more games in tonight when I went but I resisted.

My buddy, who I counted on to get the PD0 LE, caved and couldn't wait to get to Gamestop so he bought the non-LE version at Wal-Mart. What a dumb ass. *sigh*

I just spent 2 hours prepping up the food and snacks for my 3 day event. I'm not the least bit tired and I have to work a 9 hour shift before I go pick my system up at midnight.

This is worse than trying to sleep on Christmas Eve.

The console has a tracking number from bestbuy.com now, so I guess it's on its way. The controller is still backordered, tho'.

Well, my GameRush called me to let me know that I WILL be getting mine Tuesday. They are only getting 6 360's though.....they said they had 7 total pre-orders. Glad I'm getting mine....1 more day.
