11:34 A.M. PST - Press release just came out. Sega and Hudson games on Virtual Console. Retro Studios was involved in the creation of the nunchaku controller. "Revolution owners will be able to relive their past gaming glories from the Sega Genesis console by playing a "best of" selection from more than 1,000 Genesis titles, as well as games sold for the TurboGrafx console (a system jointly developed by NEC and Hudson). These games join Revolution's access to 20 years of fan-favorite Nintendo games from the NES(R), Super NES(R) and Nintendo(R) 64 eras."

I'm so fucking sold. Twice.

Did I miss something? Did they announce anything about the Revolution besides this back catalog of games? No demos? Nothing?

The emulator(s) have to be written to support that sort of thing. Without rewriting each individual game, I imagine you'd have to write the emulator to have a host game that makes all the runtime decisions, like random number generation, enemy movement, etc. Otherwise the games would never synch up. It isn't enough to just send what buttons Player 2 is pressing.

Yeah, I thought they had "the bomb" to drop. Was it just internet hype?

It's not that kind of show. This is a game DEVELOPERS conference, where they discuss the tools and the how tos. Not launch new platforms as these developers already have their kits. Its all about the making of games.

Great, no QT on my work station. I wonder if I'll remember to check it out when I get home.

I'm all over the Revolution (or whatever they call it). I'd buy it right now if I could. New Zelda for the DS. Man, can't wait for that!

You know, just finishing a four player Four Swords Adventures game, I REALLY wish they'd do a Four Swords DS.. Wi-Fi. My God that would be awesome. That was seriously the best multi-player game I ever have and ever will play.

Nice. If this and Twilight Princess come out this year, it's going to be a great year for Zelda. I like how Phantom Hourglass has the traditional 2D Zelda look, but in 3D.

Well, I think the features of the Revolution (known and unknown) are VERY important to game development.

There was speculation they'd be revealing more of the unknown here.

Agreed, but to be fair, if a developer expects to be seriously on board with the Revolution, they better be talking to Nintendo directly and not getting their info from trade shows 9 months after everyone else has got their kits.

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass also looks incredible! This will finally be the game that gets my wife playing the DS. She's been a hard sell.

The TurboGrafx was the first system that I bought after the Atari 2600 and I loved it. It will be great to play those games again.

I would think that the graphics will be enhanced somehow being that it is played on a more powerful machine?
