Hardest Level/End of Level in a game
So what does everyone think? Which game shas the hardest last level or end of level boss.
I think that the original Driver game has a pretty hard last level, and that God of War's last level is pretty tough. The giant pyramid on wheels at the end of Serious Sam 2 was pretty mean as i remember as well.

Folks here may laugh, but I put down Metroid Prime for almost a year out of sheer frustration. Of course I eventually read a Faq on it and beat it in a night.

Star Wars Battlefront II's single player has some difficult levels as you progress through the game. I'm doing the "Rise of the Empire" campaign and I'm on the level from the 1st movie were the Stormtrooper blow the door and fight on that ship the Princess is on.
Well, as soon as the door blasts open the rebels fire a rocket right into the door and they kill you and aobut 4 or 5 Stormtroopers. The AI for this game is a bitch.

For some reason, I always remember fighting those dumb optional bosses in Final Fantasy VII... Emerald and Ruby Weapon. I probably needed to level up a lot more, but they were damned tough at the time, even with Knights of the Round.
In other RPG news, I remember staying up an entire weekend to beat Phantasy Star II and finding the last boss was pretty tough.
It's not a level, per se, but the one game that frustrated me more than any other was the Gamecube F Zero. Don't get me wrong, driving games often upset me, especially when they reveal my lack of skills, but I HATED finishing first in the first four races of a GP and then sliding off the edge in the fifth race over and over again. Argh!

The last level on Tiger Heli (NES).
... and then someone told me that there was not a "last level" on that game and that it was just 4 levels that kept looping. Darn it! Besides, it was my first game.

I was going to say Ninja Gaiden on the NES also. Also, I seem to remember that the Sega Genesis Ghouls and Ghosts, when you get towards the end of the game, they send you back to the beginning again.

Gradius III. SO FAST
Also, not a final level, but trying to get some of cheat codes in Goldeneye 007. So hard to do it under those times.
I also remember the first time I killed Emerald in VII, it was amazing to finally beat that.

I always has a lot of troulbe with the final level of Mega Man 4 (NES). All of the other MM games I beat no sweat, but that one I was only able to conquer once. I always hated the fact that, even though there was a save, I had to start at the beginning of WIley's fortress every time I restarted the game. I know, with saves it's no Ninja Gaiden ....

I'll give honorable mentions to Metroid Prime (for final boss), and Ghosts N Goblins (whole game is difficult).

I would have to agree with the DRIVER votes. I gave up on that bad boy after about 80 trys. Go figure, because I was always really good at SpyHunter too!
