The DS hardware is region-free. Certainly the "NiFi" protocol they use is identical meaning you shouldn't have a problem.

grim_tales 03-29-06 08:33 AM

OK, thanks :) What I meant was that I heard for some 2 player games, both players must have a copy of the cart from the same region (I think?)

pinata242 03-29-06 08:52 AM

Yeah, that makes sense IF the game doesn't support single-cart multi-play. I thought you were asking about hardware. Hardware doesn't matter. Software does since the two pieces have to communicate explicitly to remain in-synch.

grim_tales 03-29-06 09:27 AM

Fair enough :) Thanks for clearing that up ;)

I cant wait to hear what NSMB sounds like, I'm sure of the classic mario tunes will be there :)

"Swing your arms/from side to side/Its time to go/do the Mario.."

:D

SMB looks great.

I'm loving Peach, but it is it's own beast, and doesn't really feel much like a Mario game (other than maybe Mario 2).

Following up on EBGames' DS Lite SMB Bundle Pre-Release sale, a number of DS Lite accessories are available via EB Games on or about 05/01/06.

I'm currently trying to decide on whether I should keep a regular DS I recently purchased, or whether I should return it, and wait for a DS Lite...

I most-likely won't be using it while in the car, because I'll usually be driving, but I may take it on vacation with me at times. I don't really mind the size of the regular DS, and I did get a pretty good deal on it. Think it's worth the wait?

I'm just worried about something my friend told me, regarding a slower screen refresh rate on the Lite, than on the regular DS...

spainlinx0 03-29-06 04:45 PM

Did it drive anyone else crazy during that video that the player would leave blocks unbroken or coins ungrabbed?

pinata242 03-29-06 04:50 PM

Haha, yeah. Did the system have a time limit and they just wanted to get as far as they could to see it all, you think?

Qui Gon Jim 03-29-06 04:50 PM

Yes. Must...collect...all...coins...

Did you watch the video above? Personally I think it is pretty clear and I would be upset if I had just bought one. the new screens sell it alone, the sleek and streamlined design is a bonus.

Who sang that Mario song (the one featured in the 1st SMB game, among others). I think it was also on the "Super Mario Bros. Super Show" too (or something like that) :)

grim_tales 03-30-06 02:57 AM

Maybe the guy was playing a timed demo or something? The explanation that he wanted to get as far as he could seems likely.
Still you'd think he'd know hoe to get to the highest point on the flag at the end (for 5000 points) :D I remember that from SMB and Mario All Stars.

grim_tales 03-30-06 08:19 AM

You can find another gameplay video on Lik Sang, this time with sound (Quicktime format). :)
Go to the New SMB page and scroll down.
